Sorry, but those of you opening this post hoping to read about a steamy, hot sheet joint will be sadly disappointed.  Maybe you are on the wrong Forum?
An old favourite place to stay in Bangkok was the Federal Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 11.  It had good prices, was very central and, best of all, was the all-day coffee shop turning out delicious food at very reasonable prices.  Sadly, the Federal is no more but the people who owned the Federal have another establishment on Sukhumvit Soi 19 called the Honey Hotel.  It is quite close to the corner of Asok and Soi Cowboy if you are into that kind of thing.
Room rates are very reasonable, around THB 1200.  The rooms are clean but a little on the dingy side.  It is not the place to go if you are trying to impress the latest girlfriend.  The coffee shop is a replica of the one at the Federal with the same excellent menu.  I stayed there recently and had a very delicious crab salad costing THB 120.
If the old only could, if the young only knew.

Thanks for the info, Enjoy yourself t/t and tell us what you didn't do when you get back  :o
Best take your passport with you if your around the asoke area   :cheers
