Paris attacks: At least 153 killed in gunfire and blasts, French officials say

On a night when thousands of Paris residents and tourists were reveling and fans were enjoying a soccer match between France and world champion Germany, horror struck in an unprecedented manner. Terrorists -- some with AK-47s, some reportedly with bombs strapped to them -- attacked sites throughout the French capital and at the stadium where the soccer match was underway.

Scores were killed in the coordinated attacks late Friday, leaving a nation in mourning and the world in shock.

France bombs Islamic State HQ, hunts attacker who got away

France launched "massive" air strikes on the Islamic State group's de-facto capital in Syria Sunday night, destroying a jihadi training camp and a munitions dump in the city of Raqqa, where Iraqi intelligence officials say the attacks on Paris were planned.

The Paris attacks (and those to come), are despicable, barbaric, brutal and carried out by de-humanised fanatics. The violent actions of Russia and France now, are more than understandable.
But IMHO the core of the ORIGIN of these problems, lies in poverty and disparity of incomes over decades and decades in most Countries of the World.
And for example, the good old UK, in helping to destroy Iraq, generally the West's history of support for Israel, USA's financing the establishment of the Afghan Taliban AND hundreds of policies over many decades from rich Western Countries, has constructed this enmity we now suffer from, bit by bit.
Yes the 'West' has to address this terrible threat and THEN, change it's ways at home and abroad.

Thinking of changing ways at home and abroad, in 'The Guardian' today, 4 USA serviceman with 20 years experience between them in piloting drone attacks, say that the use of drones is a major help to ISIS recruitment, because of the cowardly, indiscriminate nature of the attacks. One says he had to turn his conscience off to do the work. Worth a read.

In the DT today an article about the large estates, many around Paris, which house 7.7% of the total population, the most poor people in France, being a breeding ground for terrorism. No change in 20 years, Worth a read. Worth a thought !
