CityNews – A local abbot (head monk) has been arrested for distributing small quantities of yaba.

Supab Boothong

On 4th October, 6 p.m. Police Region 5 held a press conference after they arrested Supab Boothong (25), the abbot of Wat Ton Sarn in San Sai district with 43 amphetamine pills.

On the same day, around 3.30 p.m. police from Doi Saket Police Station arrested Surachet Inchai, aka Oat (17), at a petrol police station located on the Chiang Mai – Doi Saket Road. He was holding 15 amphetamine pills. After questioning Oat told the police he bought the pills from Phra Supab Boothong.

Police Major General told the press that this year police have really cracked down on drugs. He said that even though most of the dealers are big dealers, the government has told them they must also investigate smaller dealers in order to decrease the demand of yaba.
