Suvarnabhumi Airport will find out if it can prohibit passengers or film crews filming in the airport without permission following the dissemination of a pornographic video clip in which the airport was used as a location.

Suvarnabhumi airport director Somchai Sawasdipol said the clip had hurt the image of the airport. He would study regulations to find out if filming can be prohibited.

"Suvarnabhumi airport is an open area and photography and filming are not prohibited, unlike some other airports. So it is difficult to control it," Mr Somchai said.

He referred to the video clip uploaded by "camporn01" on Youtube featuring a Japanese pornographic film in which a Thai female actor dressed as a flight attendant is seen walking through the airport before being lured by a rapist.

Mr Somchai accepted that the airport in the scene is Suvarnabhumi.

He said normally anyone who wanted to film in the airport had to seek approval from airport authorities and authorities would closely supervise the filming.

But in this case, those responsible made no request.

Suvarnabhumi airport deputy director Narongchai Thanadchangsaeng said people could take pictures in public areas at the airport but they were prohibited from doing so in restricted areas.

Film crews are subject to fees at the airport.

Transport Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat said yesterday that controlling the practice was difficult because the passenger terminal was a public place.

"I have watched the clips," Mr Sukumpol said.

"The pictures recorded at the airport do not contain improper content. Take it lightly.

"Such issues come only from a few insane people."

Miss Jaemsri Sukchoterat, flight attendant and president of the labour union of Thai Airways International, urged the government to block the online presence of the pornographic film and take legal action against all wrongdoers to protect the image of Thai women and flight attendants.

She said pictures of Suvarnabhumi airport in the film also affected the nation's image, because the airport was a main gateway to Thailand.

Transport authorities said it is difficult to control filming in the passenger terminal of Suvarnabhumi airport.
