Thailand’s Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation Reports Nearly 8000 Killed in Road Accidents this Year

An article from the chiangraitimes.com. reports that already there have been Nearly 8,000 killed in road accidents this year, i can't believe that one of our members once posted in the "driving in thailand" thread, that driving in thailand is just the same as any other country, and any one can dig up videos to post, yeah right. get real. This is peoples lives we are talking about not bar chat. As many as 7,925 people have been killed in road accidents throughout the country from Jan 1 to Aug 5 this year.

post from jaltsc t/v

These are not "accidents". These are CRASHES caused by people who don't know how to drive and supported by the lack of the government requiring proper training and enforcement of driving rules and regulations.

The sequence should be 1)Learn to drive. 2) Pass a proper driving test. 3)Buy a car. 4)Drive

In Thailand, it's 1) Buy a car 2)Buy an amulet. 3) Learn to drive on the crowded roads. 4)Good Luck
Anyone who goes to a psychiatrist should have his head examined.

Thaiga,

I have to agree with you, the word"Accident" has been misused by the media around the world, only to sell news.

Crashes or collisions are better descriptions. for item 4) Drive, I would add "under the regulations and laws of the land"

Just my $0.02 worth

Accidents, my ass.  They are collisions and crashes, usually due to the operator's negligence, alcohol, etc.  Sometimes, it's blamed on bad luck.  The word, "accidents," is totally misused. It's like the guy who gets caught cheating on his wife. "I'm sorry honey.  It was an accident.  I tripped and my dick accidentally fell in her."
