The first Airbus A350 XWB to be bought by Thai Airways International, which it plans to use on its Australia route from next month, has landed in Thailand.

The royally bestowed "Wichian Buri" aircraft touched down at Suvarnabhumi airport after a long haul flight from the Airbus delivery centre in Toulouse, France.

The airline said the A350 XWB, regarded as the most modern aircraft from the European plane maker, will be used on flights between Bangkok and Melbourne in September.

It is one of 12 A350s ordered by THAI, which involves four firm orders and eight leases.
