Hey TW thanks again. Well plenty of new signings and there must have been plenty of departures too - it was a big squad anyway !
I feel we are underpowered badly with the quality of 'expat' members in the squad and will be frantic if Adiyah moves on. The Manager is obviously in place for next season.
But I'm really chuffed to think we might see good 'ole Prompong again.
Incidentally although not many contribute here about our local heroes, I see there are plenty of readings so please keep up the good work !

RUMOUR: Nakhon Ratchasima FC have linked transfer move for Romain Gasmi.

This would be a real coup for the Swatacats but other clubs are also interested in him. It appears that it will be all change up front for the Swatcats this season. Tuck and Adiyeah out (both TBC), Prompong, Marco TagbaJumi and perhaps Gasmi in.

Well TW Romain Gasmi will do just fine.
44 goals in 116 in the TPL - mind you Lee Tuck arrived with a good scoring record.
Fingers crossed then.

Thanks TW.
I heard that there was some confusion about the format of the TPL next year.
18 or 20 teams ? Muang Thong and Buriram off to another League ?
Not sure what is going on. Have you heard anything ?
Is it settled now ?
Thanks for all the updates.

Hi Roger - plenty going on. TPL are meeting tomorrow to decide whether to expand the league to 20 teams - rumours are that it will stay with 18. Still doubt about the future of BEC Tero. There is also a decision to be made whether Nahkon Pratom or Sukothai will be promoted. Police, Pattaya United and Saraburi also have doubts about their futures due to financial/ownership/sponsorship issues.
Buriram and Muang Thong are not leaving the TPL - not yet anyway!!!

Very complicated, hope this helps!!

Swatcats - Prospects 2016.

The team has swelled its squad and has seemingly decided to completely change its attacking options with the addition of Prompong and Marco Tagbajumi . The imminent departures of Tuck and Adiyeah (TBC) are regrettable but in truth our goal tally last year was poor.
Our new signing Marco Tagbajumi looked pretty useful in the recent friendly against Ubon – he is a big bustling target man and just what we missed last season.
I expect that Noah Chivuta will continue to be the powerhouse in the middle and if the defence, which had a pretty good record last season, can continue to perform well, I feel that an attempt to break into the top 5 may be an achievable if optimistic target.

In midfield, Bjorn Lindemann has undoubted talent and I hope that he is played just behind the strikers where his guile and ability to shoot from long range can be realized.

The team’s home record is an enviable one and if the fans keep coming (as I expect them to) this record will continue and if we can pick up more points away from home, our league position could replicate or better our commendable 8th place of last season.

Whilst acknowledging that last year’s fantastic achievement of finishing in 8th place will be difficult to better, to move further up the table should be a target. Personally and in reality, a mid table position would be acceptable – we have to remember where we have come from in the last couple of years.

It is absolutely vital that the team cements its permanent place in the top tier.

Thanks TW. I see 18 teams are there on the opening days.
Including 4th League 1 ?
I hope Prompong has cleared up his spat and wish Marco T well.
But are Tuck and Adiyah out of contract ?
5 falang allowed in the match day squad ?
Meantime I'll be watching Leicester v MCFC on the box tomorrow. Wow !

Hi Roger,
I think Adiyeah has gone. I noticed his number 40 was being used by another player in the friendlies. Lee Tuck was on the sidelines during the friendlies - but no kit on. Apparently, NRFC want to terminate his contract but he has I year to go - they must have had a fallout. I wish that they could work something out but I am not optimistic.
Cheers
Russ

TPL 2016 My Thoughts.

Will anyone be able to challenge current champions Buriram United? I think not, they seem to be accelerating away, with some astute signings bolstering their squad. I feel that we need to watch out for Bangkok united. They have added to an already successful squad and seem keen to challenge at the top. Muang Thong belatedly raised the bar with the signing of the “Tero trio” however given Tero’s performances last year there is no guarantee that these signings will make much difference.

Other interesting questions to be asked are; how will the much modified Chonburi Sharks fare – will they maintain their top 5 status?  Can Nahkon Ratchasima build on last year’s successes and how will the promoted teams cope.

My tips for first, second and third;
1.Buriram United
2.Bangkok United
3.Muang Thong United

At the other end of the table, one remembers that last year’s 3 promoted teams all survived – due I feel to the rather poor standard of the TPL last year. The relegation battle this year will, in my opinion, involve Navy, Super Power Samut Prakan and perhaps the three promoted teams will struggle.

Many teams seem to have tried to progress with most bolstering their squads with new foreign imports. I suspect that this season will produce a real “slugfest” with “Battles Royal” in the struggle for top five and the fight against relegation.

Whatever happens, I hope that after the trials and tribulations of the close season, the TPL enjoys a successful year with competitive matches watched by bumper crowds. I fear however that many fans will have viewed the actions of the TPL board with disdain and will turn their backs on the domestic game in Thailand.

Hi TW.
If Lee Tuck is on the books then the Manager must try again to 'manage' him - LT is not with us on the cheap. Very sorry to lose Adiyah.
So 18 in the TPL but 4 promoted ??? Thought it was 3.
I'm sure the TPL shenanigans won't affect the Fans when the season gets under way.
All's well then . . . .

4 promoted if Police fail to get their act together. I think it would be BBCU who would come up as 4th promoted team.

Thanks TW.  Although very much a part time supporter, I just want to back up Roger's earlier comment that your regular updates are much appreciated.  Whilst I think you're probably correct about the mid-table finish this season we might go a bit "Leicester" and surprise a few people...you can but hope.

I'll definitely get along to a game or 3 again this season as it's a good afternoon out and a cracking atmosphere in the Kings 80th Stadium. Come on Swatcats!
