The world’s tallest man is in Thailand and, apart from appearing at Pattaya’s Believe it or Not, is helping to raise money for abnormally tall Thais.

Sultan Kosen, the world’s tallest man, visits the offices yesterday. He is helping to raise funds for 17-year-old Pornpiroon Saichanchom, second left, and Malee Duangdee, 21, third left, who are suffering from Marfan syndrome

The world’s tallest man is helping to raise funds for a Thai teenager.

Turkish farmer Sultan Kosen, 29, who stands at 2.51 metres, is recognised as the world’s tallest man by Guinness World Records.

Mr Kosen will visit Ripley’s Believe It or NOT! in Pattaya this weekend.

He has been invited to celebrate the 17th anniversary of Ripley's and will also raise funds for Pornpiroon Saichanchom, 17, of Phitsanulok, who is suffering from Marfan syndrome. She is 1.96m tall.

Ms Pronpiroon, also known as Mamiew, said the disorder makes it difficult for her to walk. She noticed she was unusually tall when she was about 12 and she is still growing.

She is taking medication to stop her growth, but her family cannot afford the medical expenses.

Mr Kosen’s growth resulted from a tumour affecting his pituitary gland. In March, treatment to control his excessive levels of growth hormone was hailed as halting his growth.

Malee Duangdee, 21, also a Marfan sufferer, also joined the visit.
