PHAYAO - Two boys, aged 2 and 4, drowned in a pond near their home on Wednesday night after their parents went to work and left them unsupervised, according to a report on Thairath.com.

The boys' father, Tana Sae-Song, 29, and their mother, Wararin Wichitmekin, 28, told police that they went to work at a farm and left their sons at home alone. When they returned from work, their children were missing.

Police said the Hmong parents usually took their sons to a nursery when they went out. However the nursery was closed on Wednesday because it was a national holiday.

Local people who went fishing at the pond, about 20 metres from their village, on Wednesday night found the children's bodies there.

A medical examnation confirmed they were the missing children of Mr Tana and Mrs Wararin, and that they had been dead for more than six hours.

Police warn parents not to leave their children at home unsupervised.

Anyone who goes to a psychiatrist should have his head examined.

How very sad. And damnation on the parents. All the authorities can do is 'warn' them!   :uhm How about a fine or imprisonment?
