Tour of Thailand cycling kicks off

UBON RATCHATHANI, 1 April 2016 (NNT) – The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhon's Cup Tour of Thailand cycling race has kicked off today on the first stretch from Ubon Ratchathani to Mukdahan province.

Ubon Ratchathani’s Vice Governor Nikon Suksai has presided over the opening ceremony of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhon's Cup Tour of Thailand cycling race, for the first 187-kilometer segment from Ubon Ratchathani to Mukdahan.

The entire route of the Tour of Thailand cycling race for male competitors will cover a total of 1,048.9-kilometers, starting from Ubon Ratchathani through the provinces of Amnat Chaoren, Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Bueng Kan, Nong Khai, Loei, Nong Nong Bua Lamphu, and Udon Thani. The race will take place during 1-6 April 2016.

The male category competition is participated by 20 teams of cyclists. Two Thai teams will compete against the other 18 teams from around the world.

The female category of this competition will cover a 262.4-kilometer stretch, and is participated by 15 teams, competing during 8-10 April, which is also a qualification competition for the selection of Thai team members to the upcoming Olympic Games in Brazil.
