Be careful what you post online as an article in khaosodenglish.com states, Anyone Posting Booze Pics Will be Prosecuted

A while back some celebrities posted photos appearing to promote a beer brand on their Instagram accounts. It goes on to say members of the public will be prosecuted for doing the same. The celebrities deleted their beer photos soon after investigation was launched last week.

So if your having a meal and take photos to share on social media, be carefull there is no alcohol bottles on the table with the name visible.

The company involved is now getting the advertising free as this will promote their brand even more than the celebrities. 8)

When I first read this it sounded ridiculous but, when I read the article, it is clear that this is just illegal alcoholic advertising (for Chang Beer) by the back door and the celebs knew exactly what they were doing and were probably, whatever they may say, getting paid for it.

Whether you agree with the law or not, I'm not sure the police had any option other than to threaten prosecution in this instance.  I can't imagine that this would be extended to the millions and millions of food and drink selfies posted by the Thai populace...but of course the police cannot say that or they would look like they're singling people out.

What is amusing however, is that it was the opposition (Singha) who pointed out the "unethical" marketing practices  ::)
