Work Permit
« on: October 13, 2018, 12:09:59 PM »
I first came to Thailand in 2005 whilst working for a large European company.  A Work Permit appeared in my hand as if by magic and I thought nothing of it at the time.
Recently I have joined a small Thai company and have become aware as to how much effort the company has to put into the Work Permit process.  To get my non-Imm Visa they had to provide the following documents:-

Letter of Introduction for my Visa
Copy of Contract between company and our Client
Company Registration documents
List of Shareholders
Business Registration and Business Licence
Balance Sheet and statement of income tax
Value Added Tax registration
Por Nor 30
Por Ngor Dor 50
Company profile
Map indicating location of company

On top of that there has been air fare and hotel bill for Hong Kong trip to Thai Consulate (To be followed by more bills for further visit to extend the Visa for one year)

For a large company all of this is not so much of a problem but, for small companies, it is definitely not an incentive for employing farangs.
If the old only could, if the young only knew.
