New User, Hello to all, I need some help finding my mom
« on: March 25, 2010, 12:36:09 PM »
My mom lives in Korat, at least was living in Korat the last time I talked to her.  I don't speak Thai anymore, but was born in Khon Kaen and moved to the US with my dad and sister when I was 4.  My parents go divorced and I went with my dad.  From then on, I learned and only speak english.  My dad passed away 2 years ago and I need to get hold of my mom.  I am married to a Thai women, but she doesn't like my mom and I really can't causing headaches at home.  I know that she was planning to build a house near Wat Liap, near the air force base.  Anyone in Korat with the time to help me would greatly appriciated.
Thanks
Mike

Are you able to post some more information about your Mom? Be careful what you put on a public forum, though, there are some strange people around who misuse personal data.

Would the air force base be Wing 1?

Just South of Wing Division 1 Golf Course. I am looking at Google map.  That road that is the southern part of that Golf Course that intersects Chainarong Rd.  Her house should be on the other side of that road.

thanks

Netty..if your missus doent like your mum then she must know her fairly well eh? Seems a strange scenario if you moved away when you were 4.      .However
If that is the case then she is the best person to help you by a country mile. If she refuses then you clearly have even greater problems :'(

Wat Liap is just off the bypass, some distance from Chainarong Road.

How will you establish your credentials and give sufficient information to someone who is willing to make a search for you? You will also need to bear in mind that your Mom may not want contact and the poor soul who traces her might be in for some trouble if you aren't sure about that.  Don't post details here in public, by the way.

Net, trust me on this. Do NOT reveal ANY information that you consider sensitive to  anyone  on this forum or any other forum for that matter.  If you want results, hire a private investigator or lawyer, someone who specializes in this sort of thing.  None of these people here have the experience or know how to help you find what you're looking for.

I have old cell phone numbers, but they are all incorrect now.  I moved to the US when I was 4 because my dad and mom got a divorce.  I don't speak or write Thai, I am a farang in my own birth country. Everyone on my mom's side of the family only speak Isan, I feel bad about it, but didn't have the opportunity to keep my first language.  My father passed away a couple of years ago, and now my mom is the only one left of my parents.  I might be a fool, but I don't care, I miss my mom and need help finding her.  With the red shirts in BKK, my friend's brother can't get time off to go to Korat, I will have to wait for him to go there when he can.

I will keep everyone updated, thanks for reading and caring.

Would you be able to get to Korat and look for her with the help of an Isaan speaker?

Update on "New User, Hello to all, I need some help finding my mom"

Update:
I was able to go to Thailand this April, was there for 3 weeks.  Luck for me, I had a friend just move back to Thailand and she took us around Bangkok.  Went to a Muay-Thai matches near the US consulate and near the demonstration too.  Attended a soccer match with Muangthong United.  The power went out twice during that match.  Went out the my wife's village and roasted out there in the heat.

When I got back to US, my friend was able to find my mom in Korat.  And all those days I was in Bangkok, my half-sister lives in Bangkok.  Oh well, anyways I was able to call and talk to everyone and really need to learn Thai, because their english isn't that good.  My mom's husband has cancer and asked her daughter to get married this year, I wasn't able to attend because of work, but helped out in paying for the wedding.

I hope to be able to go out to Thailand next year and finally see everyone.

Thanks for all the support and warning people messaging me.
Some people thought it was a bogus request to find someone, oh well, to each their own.

Take care,

Hi Mike,

glad to hear that things went well so far, that you were able to re-connect. Hope you can make up for that gap of having grown up so far distant from your roots and family. And thanks very much for the update! :)

Cheers,

Johnnie
