Hello to all of you Korat Farts
« on: September 25, 2017, 09:37:43 PM »
Newbie here. Well mostly, I was a member on this forum a few years back but circumstances have postponed my long term arrival in Korat. Now we are renting in Hua Thale while the house is under construction in Bua Yai. So glad to finally see the beginning of my life here materializing. I need to make a visa run and always before it was to Mae Sai or Nong Khai. It looks like the Chong Jom / O smach would be the closest. I read the posts from 2015 and was wondering if anyone here might have some more current info on an in/out trip to this border crossing. Advice/suggestion certainly welcomed.

Hi newbie,

welcome! Is "Xkv8r" the planet you're from, or did you choose that as profession? :)

cheers,

There are many that wonder what planet I'm from, but in this case it refers to my being a ditch digger for most of my life. I was previously a member here as "Schmitty", a newbie then as well. I wasn't able to login as such and assumed the account was terminated for lack of use. :)

I think, I remember deleting an unused account "Schmitty", since the spelling with "Sch..." is quite uncommon in GB or US. "Schmidt", "Schmitt" or "Schmid" are quite common names in DACH (D = Germany, A = Austria, CH = Switzerland).

If I didn't delete unused accounts from time to time we would have a 5-digit number of members, most from Russia etc. and not interested in Korat at all, but rather in placing SPAM onto this forum. ::)

But fighting with Spammers sometimes brings some collateral damage.  :-[

Yes, it may very well have been under Smitty. A nickname I've been known by for many years and a username I use frequently. For some reason my laptop had my login info saved as "Schmitty" and frankly I would have been surprised if it was still active.

As for the visa run, unfortunately work has called me back to the states early, so I won't need to make that trip. August of next year I'll be eligible for my SS from the US, the house will be completed and I'll apply for the Non-immigrant and retirement visa.

Thank you for your kind welcomes and I'll be watching the forum to stay informed of all things Korat. :salute
