Screen shots from Thaiphoon / spammer emails
« on: October 06, 2011, 06:35:34 AM »
How is it that Thaiphoon is able to produce screen shots from a forum that's been closed for several months now and knew exactly which posts to go to?  Gee, I wonder who Thaiphoon could be.   Take a look at a thread "over there" about email spamming.

One explanation could be Google's cache: open http://www.google.com in your browser, type into the search window "site:koratfarang.com" and hit 'enter'.

Now select a result on the later pages and click 'Cached'. Make a screenshot of what you got on your monitor now.

If you wait for much longer Googles cache will be corrected all to that "maintenance mode" screen. They're working on it.

But for pages not indexed in Google there must be another explanation...

Be careful. Firefox is giving an untrusted site warning for Koratfarang.com.

Yeah, but how would he know and remember that particular thread and find it so easily?

And when I try again I get the 'forum closed' page.

Yeah, but how would he know and remember that particular thread and find it so easily?

By using the search function for a particular sequence o characters like an email address. Remember, Google is an internet search facility!

That works as a search but access to the page isn't available. Only the 'site closed' notice appears.

If you open http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/koratfarang.com select "Traffic stats" and click on "Time on site" you'll find that within the last 1 month visitors to that site spent 1.62500 minutes by average there. Amazing time for a site closed since 40 days! You would expect that people don't need 97.5 seconds by average to realize the site has been closed. Most visitors who didn't know it was "closed" probably didn't need more man 10 secs. max to understand and click on to another page on the web. So 97.5 secs. by average means some people do spent a good amount of time there still. :-[

Are you suggesting that some people still have access to the old forum? What could be the purpose of keeping it available to a few and invisible to public view? Perhaps someone is stripping out data for use elsewhere.

Of course all admins - old and new - can access the forum by simply logging in at the "maintenance screen". Did it develop into a secret forum for a few selected - while the minus-forum has been set up for "the masses"? ???

Are there two classes of Korat farangs?

0.00033    -49% for koratfarang.com (lotsa fans seem to hope for a reopening, checking quite often)

0.00007    -    ? for korat-farang.com (James Bond himself must be keeping that figure down.  ;D )

That's a lot of undying love for a forum closed! It doesn't fit to the stories told in Korat, JF! There are people asserting all or most of the old KF members had moved to the one with the minus in the middle.   ;)

No big deal

I started the topic off after I did a google search on my own email address which came up with a reference to the old board which made it appear as if somebody had been using my email address,  others then did a search on it & came up with the answer.

Why are some people trying to make something out of nothing

..and you could ask the admin of the forum(s) that displayed your email address to remove the post or the screen-shots or blacken your email address - like I did on this forum!  ;)

Same person?  Look to the far left at the bottom where it says, "latest visitors."  Look at the names.  See any familiar ones? :D

Only 5.74 posts per day? Can that be the same person? :-[
