Illegal Filming
« on: June 01, 2012, 12:36:52 PM »
A friend of mine, a policeman, owns a very well known entertainment spot in Korat town. He has been told that a foreigner has made video clips in his place and posted them on the internet. He's quite angry about it and wants to find the culprit. The description he has is white male in his forties with a receding hairline.

If anyone has information that might lead to the identification of this person, please PM me.

Well, I do hope for him that he blurred the faces of people on those videos, since not everybody likes to be documented and exposed visiting entertainment spots. He could be in real deep s.hit for that. As to being allowed to film or take pictures on private property please have a look at that post:

Distributing videos and pictures over the internet

That must be a guy who cannot tell right from wrong, who has never heard of laws.

I understand that one of the issues is that faces were not blurred and some customers have complained.

I, for one, cannot abide the current proliferation of camera phones and peoples willingness to post everything to Facebook. It takes all the fun out of situations.  In the past, if I wanted to do something a bit stupid or fun I would just do it...it might live on in the memory and be told in anecdotes, but that would be it.  Now the only people who do something stupid are exhibitionists who desire to be filmed, whilst the remainder are becoming more and more paranoid about being caught on camera.

There are many things that you are happy to do with friends, but not so happy to be seen by family or others.  You don't have to live an anarchistic lifestyle, it's merely that many people value their privacy.  Facebook, and social networking no longer allows provision for any sort of separation of social circles.  I'm not even a member of Facebook, and yet people in the UK have seen images of me over here as they are "friends" of "friends" of "friends" of a friend.  These have not been a problem so far, but it makes me far more self-conscious than I would wish to be.

The above may be slightly off-topic - the guy filming in the bar is just an idiot, and lucky not to have had his camera/phone smashed up - but it is indicative of the ways that things are going, with filming laws being unimplementable in practice.

I'm fairly sure this is the place, Saf.  This footage was shot by you know who and posted on his youtube channel along with several other videos of clubs.

Isaan music at ban korat

Here is more of his collection filming venues in Korat.  Did he ask the owner's for their permission to film and post on youtube?  Seems to be his favorite past time hobby. Check out his youtube channel and see for yourself.

U-bar
Club P'Lek.
House of Bull Korat
Mr Tong Bar Udon Thani
Club Life bar Korat
Lucifer Disco Pattaya (Pattaya has VERY strict rules on people taking pictures)

I'm sure the owners of these establishments would be interested in his nocturnal filming activities without their consent or knowledge.

I'm told that the offending videos have been removed from whatever website displayed them. Perhaps the several owners will be looking out for him so that they can give him a nice welcome next time he visits.

There's a warning being passed around this area to the effect that a foreigner has been seen lurking in a school car park and the road outside not far away. He may not be a paedophile but teachers and security staff are watching for him. He's said to be in his forties with receding dark hair and sits in a small, white car of the type usually favoured by ladies.

Do you think it's the same person as the candid camera freak? I'll try to get more information from a head teacher I know.

Indeed, JF I heard that too, and from what I've been told it also includes several residential areas, housing developments, and villages.  Most of the new ones have CCTV and security.  I know for a fact that the person in question is not allowed to set foot on the premises of a certain school.  He was asked to leave once already after being spotted loitering in the parking lot in a white car, and from what I was told, he'll be arrested for trespassing the next time he shows his face there.

A few questions.

What would be his purpose loitering around in the parking lot of a school?  He has no children.

Who's white car is it?  I've been told the license plate has been recorded and given to the police.

Did he rent the car from someone?

I've been told that the school has taken this very seriously and have upped the security.  Since he was first spotted doing one of his clandestine spy missions, the school has increased the number of police on the campus.

He has absolutely no business being there other than to harass, collect data, spy, and possibly find out where certain parents live.

A car? I thought that person was famous for night-time speeding on a motorcycle with howling motor in small sois, tearing people from their sleep and endangering the sleeping soi dogs. I think he had even posted one of his movie productions giving proof of that on Youtube.

Yeah, he did.  Motorcycle ride in Korat.  The car in question was either rented or owned by an associate.  He's too cheap to even buy / wear a crash helmet as evident in one of his past videos.

Here it is again...speeding and probably no helmet.  Again he's taking the shortcut soi behind the 7-11 opposite Chaopaya, most likely on his way home.  That soi is very small and dangerous.  There are lots of blind curves and walls that obstruct your vision.  You need to be very cautious, but I guess after being on the piss all night it doesn't seem to matter for some folks.

Police? Strewth, they are taking this seriously. Is there something more about this than we know, I wonder?

You know there are always exceptions from the laws for those "serving the laws". Thoug it's unlikely that he knocks somebody else's head by not wearing a helmet on his own, it's anti-social to burden the costs of medical care on others for keeping him alive when he knocks his head. His medical insurance, if he's got one,  would refuse coverage on the basis of him not having worn a helmet..

Well, they have police at the intersection crossroad that leads to the school, but now they've got them stationed at both the entrance AND exit to the school.  A few days ago they were randomly checking some cars as they left the campus.  This is actually a good thing because they want to ensure the safetey of the students.

Well maybe he'll be out on the piss again speeding around Korat and knock his his so hard that medical care and others won't need to keep him alive.   ;D

My wife just asked me what was the purpose of him making this video.  Anyone want to take a crack at it?

Very difficult to find a rational explanation! Just thoughts like "attempting to attract attention, spreading fear of himself, extension of you-know-what"could come to my mind, as irrational as they are.

What's the connection between the illegal videos, the school lurker and the motorcycle video?

Perhaps he's showing a quick getaway route to avoid the authorities.  What he fails to realize is that many people have been living here a lot longer than he has and know the secret sois better than him including the authorities.  Just my thoughts.
