Framing with Lese Majeste

A fake Facebook created with the name Andrew Drummond and loaded with highly inflammatory marks which would automatically be ruled as lese majeste in Thailand, was last night detected, monitored, then closed.

The false Facebook page came on line earlier the day. I was alerted to it by a British Embassy consular official.

The Department of Special Investigation and Cyber Crimes Unit of the Royal Thai Police were immediately also alerted both by phone and email, so they could monitor the site.

The phony ‘Andrew Drummond’  described as a freelance journalist in Bangkok made more than 30 friends during the short life-time of the page.

Problem is that this could be a "double-frame", as I gain from the comments on the thread. Somebody making it look like a certain person had tried to frame Andrew. One of his friends trying to help him in an attack on somebody else, maybe?

You wouldn't believe that we got a phony in Korat who tried similar here on this forum: registering under nicks other people were known to use on another (now closed ) forum and make provocatory remarks about the King of Thailand "in their nick". These attempts to cause problems have also been reported to the police. I still do hope that this criminal does get hit by the full force of the law governing cyber crimes etc. Wishing success to Andrew Drummond as well... ;)

JF, you should report it to the Department of Special Investigation  and Cyber Crimes here in Thailand.  I'd bet they'd be interested in what the imposter tried to do on this forum.  That is downright nasty to try and pull a stunt like that.

Actually that's what the lieutenant at the Tourist Police somehow suggested. But the DSI has no office in Korat. So I did file the report at the main police station. Last time when this person tried to cause trouble this report was also shown to the officer whom he tried to use for harassing me. The officer was very reserved towards him then. I better not tell too much of this encounter... ;)
