Dreambox illegal?
« on: April 23, 2012, 06:16:27 AM »
Saw this on another Korat forum..

We have dream box for sale and this package you can see same as platinum package of true vision(plus 3CH for HD chanel) and this package no need instalment for this set is 12,000THB only. This set consit with....

- Disk
- Dream box
- Card
- Etc....

Note: we have service all Korat area.

I've been told that owning a dreambox is not illegal, but if you are getting True channels without a paid subscription then wouldn't that be illegal?  The fact that the above seller says "this package you can see same as platinum package of true vision(plus 3CH for HD chanel) " suggests to me that this is a non paid subscription.  If that's the case I sure as hell wouldn't allow ads like that on my forum.

Anyone that can elaborate on this?  I don't own  dreambox....just pay True every month for the gold package.

Yes indeed, offering a Dreambox (and it's probably a copy) with True Visions is against the law. The forum Admin. should remove the ad.

The ad. is also probably misleading because, as I understand it, the Dreambox will have to be connected to the internet and a satellite dish and a pirate service provider will have to be paid monthly. On the other hand, the price of the box suggests that, in this case, you make just one initial payment. That probably means that if you have a problem with the service later, you can go whistle up your own satellite dish.

The member who posted seems to be advertising an illegal service, not just selling a single Dreambox. Note that he has given no 'phone number.

hahahhah.  I laughed so hard when I saw that.  The next topic will be, "Where can I go to buy a pepsi, a 7-11 foot long hotdog, and a loaf of bread?"

There are hundreds of hair salons in Korat....almost on every corner, some right next to each other.  In fact, I don't think you can even drive down any soi without passing one.  Some of the Barber shops aren't really Barber shops, either.  :spin

Another thing...if a customer doesn't subscribe to True, don't they remove the red dish from your home?  That's what I was told.  So, using their dish, but not paying for a subscription.....lovely..  I think I know who this guy is that posted that ad.  A year or so ago I met "someone" in a newly opened pub/ restaurant in Korat and was approached by him to buy.....guess what?.....exactly what he posted on that other forum AND for the same price.  When I declined, he started the hard sell routine with me and started to become aggressive.  I told him to pis.s off and never ever come sit down at my table again, UNINVITED to wind me up with his poor sales pitch.
