Business names shouldn't be nicknames on forums
« on: May 28, 2011, 10:58:24 AM »
Quote from: Moderator Y
Don't use Koratfarang as your battlefield.

Please use forum nicknames.

As we know there are businesses in Korat in majority owned by Thais not participating in the KF battles. The problem is that one of the belligerent members of KF is using the name of a business as his nick. I heard people from that business told police recently upon them questioning he'd not be working there any longer, not be associated with that business anymore. Don't know whether that is true. But in any case should we not forbid the use of the registered names of businesses in Korat as nicks to prevent innocent workers or owners of businesses from suffering damage at the behavior of former or even still present associates or people just abusing that registered business name?

I would ask "Moderator Y" to change the displayed nick of those spoiling a company's or employer's reputation. I hope the rarely present admin gave him at least permission to do that.

I had an certain person showing up at my house once with a person from a business of which he is using the registered business name as his nick on a forum, trying to get me not to mention their business anymore when referring to that belligerent, threatening guy.

I definitely think the brotherly forum should make sure that an unrelated business cannot be damaged , when one is answering to the excited challenges of a member using that business's registered name as nick. Please have pity on the innocent thai owners and employees when a farang keeps making a fool of himself! But now it isn't even allowed to name the guy by his own name according to Moderator Y, and according to the owners of that business it isn't allowed to use their registered business name either when referring to the criminal activities and derailments of the said person. Moderator Y should think that over IMO!

I agree with that, at least in the sense that an employee such as he should not use his employers name without authority or in a way that might bring the business into disrepute. Respectable companies, once they find such extreme abuse of their business names, dismiss the employee concerned. Perhaps the owner of the business in question doesn't yet know what he is up to.

Another curious thing is that the forum member in question is occasionally proud to post his real personal name so why the coyness today? And why has it been OK for him to use people's real names but others are not allowed to do the same?

Great signature, KK!

That reminds me of an old Hank Williams song: "A Boy named Sue". Maybe that's what we should call him, since it isn't allowed to use his real name and his employers might suffer disrepute upon using the nick he has chosen.

The Boy named Sue!

Johnny Cash, I believe. He recorded it in San Quentin, by way of a coincidence.

The lyrics are here and you might find it handy to download the ring tone - just in case he calls you:

You're right, it's by Johnny Cash and from his St. Quentin Concert. But I think our "Boy named Sue" stayed at "Prison de Bordeaux", Montréal, Québec. Maybe Johnny Cash gave a concert there as well. And that could have imprinted the name SUE in his mind.

:-[ Will I ever be able to taste a bottle of the french red wine completely unbiased again, since I know they named a prison like that as well?  :-[

I hadn't really thought about it before, but you are correct - using the name of your employer when posting e-mails on any forum, without the employer's authority, is unprofessional and almost certainly a disciplinary matter. Not sure why people want to wash their dirty laundry in public.

That's the frog from an old Warner Bros cartoon.  I remember it well.  The frog could sing and dance, but every time he took the frog to a talent agent, the frog wouldn't perform.  It would only perform when no one else was around.  Classic cartoon.

JF, you bring up an interesting point.  If it were me, I certainly would NOT use my company name or logo as my user name, and then behave un-professionally.  It makes no sense at all.

Perhaps it's some new, perverse form of advertising.

A slogan to go with the antics might be something like:

Look, we're nuts, paranoid and get our information from Google. What more could you want from your local liar?

He should have said that to the judges when had to face penalty for murder; they might have granted his wish and done him away for the rest of it instead of having pity on The Boy named Sue.
