Oh, btw, from about November 2015 the domain ending dot sucks will be available for private registration. At the moment it's a bit pricey still for 2,499 bucks. But in Nov. our fans can register "koratfart.sucks" for about $10 and contribute to this forum's popularity.

On Oct 8, 2014, quite a lot of interesting new gTLDs will become available at more or less decent fees. I won't tell here, which might be interesting for whom. Don't wanna cause domain speculation among expats in Korat.

If you didn't get what would have suited you best, you might take this one, which is already available:

korat.rich

If your name is Richard, it might come as a shock having to pay $2,974.99 per year for that show of individualism. If you just consider yourself rich, you'll gladly pay for that indication of your wealth. ;)

New domains for individualists to preorder now are "korat.wtf" and "korat.fail". Now who wants to expose himself for $175 a piece? :)

Those walking the rocky road to Korat might consider preordering "korat.rocks" for $10.99 only.  ;)

Long awaited news for the drinking internet community: domains on the TLD .pub can be pre-ordered now! They say, it's available for immediate registration from July 9 on. $34.99 is just a little stiff.

Reminds me of a bar Korat had around 25 years ago: Dot Pub.

I'm as guilty as any when it comes to sitting under the bridge waiting for passing goats.
I had to laugh at this

I agree with you 100% about more effort: I'm as guilty as any when it comes to sitting under the bridge waiting for passing goats.

I would be sorry to lose this forum.

Do you know something we don't know  :uhm  A little more effort from some member's might not go a miss. ;D

Thaiga - I'm not speculating, simply stating a fact: I would be sorry to lose this forum. I do know there is work and effort involved in running and maintaining a forum and it must seem unrewarding at times.

It would take a brave soul to launch something new into the Thailand/ Korat forum scrum at the moment. In both cases it seems to be a two horse race: Teak Door vs. Thai Visa, and K-Farang vs. KFart. I can't see the stats, but in both cases the volume of posts seems to be well down with only a hardened few making regular posts. The result is that posts tend to go in ever-decreasing circles: familiar posters generate replies so their topics feature in the 'most recent' lists.

I continue to maintain the Pix Isaan Flickr Pool in the hope that I can encourage a dialogue with others who have an interest in artistic photography (by which I mean taking photos for fun and sharing them, not a place for critical discourse) http://www.flickr.com/groups/2248788@N24/. It is an open group, and everyone is welcome: if you enjoy taking photos please join and post.

For the forum, and entirely from a personal perspective (bearing in mind I am in the UK and visit Korat often), I would like to see more about:

- new coffee shops: I love a good coffee.
- decent restaurants: by which I mean a combination of good food and (importantly) interesting environment/ location.
- new hotels: I happened on the new hotel by the lake in town completely by accident last time I was in Korat. I was genuinely surprised there was no mention on the forum. But then again, most people on the forum live in Korat and forget to mention things that might interest visitors.
- golf courses and golfing nearby.
- the interesting and quirky side of Korat: I once went down a soi that had antique shops. I couldn't tell you where it was.
- things that are a bit out of town but worth seeing: curious Wats, beautiful scenery etc.

It would also be good for locals to share some inside knowledge - I wish someone had warned me about getting a tuktuk to go from the Hermitage (sh*thole) hotel to the Mall early evening: I very nearly threw up from the traffic fumes, and realised what a horrible death trap the bloody thing was. If you want the tourist experience do it once. I'd rather be in a taxi or on the back of a scooter.....

Thanks Johnnie for all your efforts: I would be sorry to lose this forum.

There's another new top level domain in the pre-registration phase now: .exposed. Which individual wants to expose himself for $ 22.99 - and let the world already know in the domain name?

With $19.99 an affordable extravagancy one can already attribute to himself by registering "korat.sexy". Or it can be used to open new business perspectives, an alternative to hang around Suan Rak Park. Who will dare to open a photo gallery with phone numbers and price-list on that domain?

And another individual's domain is for preregistration now: .cool. Just the price isn't cool at all with $34.99.

The .ninja domain is in the preregistration phase now. I can imagine "korat.ninja" making a good name for a forum of "militarist users". And it's cheaper than .guru, costs only $20.99. Talking about cheap, that domain is up for preregistration as well. "Korat.cheap" could be a bargaining site, but with $34.99 it isn't cheap itself.

Do the masters all sleep, or how can it happen that the new domain "korat.guru" is still available? :-[

That "korat.clothing" is still available doesn't concern me at all. Who could mind?

And who could be interested in registering "korat.singles" but one of those dating services. Guess there are already more than enough, so no wonder nobody is rushing for that.

"korat.bike" is already registered??? Well, if that isn't a sign for a new future of bicycles in Korat! Unfortunately we're not told yet, who registered that:

http://whois.net/whois/korat.bike

Maybe some philanthrope giving them away for free over the site? ;)

Anyway, the huge number of new gTLDs put on the web during this and next year will give us chance for a complete reorganization of the web for Korat. While there will be also new gTLDs like .berlin, .nyc and .paris etc. I haven't heard anything about .korat yet. Maybe some day! But especially missed will be .farang, I think.

Oh, don't forget, the .buzz domain is in the sunrise period now. Who'll register "korat.buzz"? :)
