Here's an update.

The staff have been questioned again and have no recollection of the alleged incident. In fact, they say that no farang asked for a breakfast on 6 April.

As I suggested earlier, the story is a fabrication.

He's also barred from the other restaurant he mentioned. The reason is the same - insulting the owner.

Well done Peterda - for coming back to the Forum after all the abuse you received - it wasn't good to see. The theory that anyone who makes a comment about an experience like this, must be jealous or a failed business owner, is a bit eccentric.
I don't really know TC very well, but in fairness, any Restaurant can have a bad moment, particularly when the staff are busy and there can often be misunderstandings in Thai/English communication.
I'm sure that TC will do better for you next time.
(If you can't get as far as PTC, the cooked breakfast at Pittini and 'Check In' are first class IMHO).

I wonder what made you "modify" your account, peterda? Before you told us:"the wife and i wandered in around midday sat and ordered the big breakfast only to be greeted with bewildered looks from both waitress and cook then told in broken english not have farang day wednesday and saturday can have macaroni". Now you tell us how considerate the waitress even was by moving you to a fanned table. ;)

Roger, after all, we're writing here for others to read, and by the vocabulary one uses he gives an evaluation, either of himself or the object he describes. Terms like "bewildered" etc. are by recipients usually not understood as 'well-mannered' or 'considerate'. "Broken english" in an establishment associated to a Brit is neither understood as a recommendation. Facts told now by "peterda" like the considerate behavior of the waitress are totally opposite. Therefore at second glance I have to agree with you somehow, not just a modification - the complete opposite! ;)

Johnnie - am I dreaming? I'm sure I read a line at the end of your 08.31 am today which clearly suggested that Peterda had been stimulated by my 07.59 am post this morning, in posting his 03.51 pm YESTERDAY ! Can you confirm that your comment was posted and withdrawn ? Is this facility normally available ?
Peterda acted on his own - I haven't a clue who he is actually.
Sorry it's a bit confusing as I was in the process of replying to your 08.31, having seen the last line, which has now disappeared.
As I said, let's give the Guy (Peterda), a break, or at least a fair hearing with some respect, unless something can be proved otherwise.
Regarding your 08.55, 'methinks you doth protest too much'. Give him a break - we're not all Melvyn Braggs ! (Thank Heavens !)

Hello again and last words from me on this.
I think, right or wrong, Peterda deserved a fair hearing on the Forum and he did not get it. Maybe he is younger than most of us and if he lapsed into 'texting' English when expressing himself, that is no cause for the abusive and insulting nature of the replies.
To refresh memories, tiny extracts of the responses to him :-
'liar', 'must have seen you coming', 'trollers top 10 ... now p*ss off', 'makes up stories', manipulates people', 'jealous and unsuccessful people', 'kid stamping feet', 'none of the description fits TC', 'protect themselves from him', 'Johann' etc. ???? , 'story is a fabrication', 'a couple of sad creatures in Korat'.
As I said, it was not a pretty sight to read these over-reactions to his original post.
In my opinion Peterda was to his credit very moderate in his confirming post - writing -
"Didn't expect to be called a liar when I posted".
Some dignity shown by Peterda here and an example we could maybe follow ?
I really hate arguing stuff or even appearing to try and take the higher ground, but the reactions to Peterda's post will not encourage further comments and discussions on topics and the forum will, IMHO, be the worse off for it.

Roger, it is totally up to the owner of a restaurant who he bans from his premises. There is no arguing about that on a public forum.

Also forums have to be protected from abuse by people attempting to defame or even incite hatred. Please don't expect forums to be democracies. The admin has to balance interests.

He's old, rude. and aggressive. The issue for me is not his comments but the motivation behind them. He was welcome at TC until his helpfulness became unwanted interference. He hasn't got over that in nearly two years!

Roger, I quite like your postings, and sometimes they add a bit of spice to the forum, but I do strongly disagree with you on the above point - I will explain this point of view...

As JF said, forums are not democracies.  I agree that you should try to avoid them becoming too clicky, but I think of them more like an extended group of friends similar to a bar or coffee shop, but from the comfort of your own home.  As you get to know people better, through their posts, you often disagree and people put their points of view across.  I think that no-one has a problem with this as it is no different to a group discussion anywhere else.  However, if a new guy enters the group and starts by openly and blatantly critisising businesses that are connected to a member of the forum, without any consideration for the outcome, then I feel they only have themselves to blame.

I do not consider myself a reactionary or argumentative person in general and the quote you gave was, I believe. the first time I have ever sworn on this forum.  However, it was not playing to the crowd, but exactly the sort of thing I would have said if someone have walked up to my group of friends and, without introduction, started to "mouth off".  I cannot understand how the poster could have logically expected any other reaction than the one he got.

Hi Takeitor. Thanks for your comments just now. I understand the situation you describe.
It was unfortunate that Peterda made his post in a sort of 'texting' language - that maybe distorted what he actually said.
That is, 'I could not get a breakfast that day'.
Ouch and shock horror !
Just read the original Post 13 ! from Peterda again - that's all he actually said.
Good reply would have been - Sorry M8. Bad day maybe. See you next time.
It's good to support your Friends of course, but they can stand up for themselves.
Massive over-reaction to the original post IMHO and not a pretty sight to behold.
My posts are now subject to approval and some have been censored. Fact.

Roger, I have only passed this last post to tell you of my disapproval of your "teachings", what and how others should post. I don't think this forum needs a "forum policeman". Everybody can decide for himself how he answers to somebody else's post, as long as he does mind common forum rules. Everybody, not only you, has the right to free expression. But, if your posting is suitable to disturb the peace on this forum, I have to take action by censoring your posts before publication. I do this in the interest of the majority of the participants and readers of this forum, as perceived by me. There is no arguing about it endlessly! As people say: "The show must go on!"

Good point! That's what usually trolls do to stir up trouble on or even destroy a forum, hoping those who are not so well integrated into the forum or hold a grudge against another member etc. do feed them clumsily or attack each other. None ever succeeded on here. Reason to be proud of ourselves! :)

The only alternatives to being happy with the way this forum is run are either finding one you're happy with or running your own forum where you can implement all what you think can be done better. You can't stop nagging, can you? ;)

Maybe you better should have left it "unmoved"! What's the benefit for a forum, when your posting appears like "a cat shaking a rat"? ;)

Quote
Nagging
Nagging is a form of pestering, or otherwise reminding an individual of previously discussed dictates or advice, usually from a perspective of superiority. The word is derived from the Scandinavian nagga, which means "to gnaw".

Social nagging
Psychotherapists such as Edward S. Dean have reported that individuals who nag are often "weak, insecure, and fearful ... their nagging disguises a basic feeling of weakness and provides an illusion of power and superiority". Nagging is sometimes used by spouses of alcoholics as one of several "drinking control efforts", but it is often unproductive.
