Time to vote for Nakhon Ratchasima best restaurant, personally I like Indian and Mexican food the best, Korat has an Indian restaurant I believe called the Tajmahal, whether it's still open I have no idea, also didn't there used to be a kebab place in Korat?
Pizza I aint really into and I wouldn't be able to tell a good pizza from a pizza hut pizza, Japanese food is for Japanese people and I'm not Japanese but I included the Fuji restaurant in the poll, as far as I'm concerned if you want to eat raw fish why go to a restaurant when they sell them by the kilo at the market.

They don't seem to be too web savvy the restaurants in Korat, it seems only 2 have websites and they were pretty hard to find, Chez Andy and the Pizza shop, anyway from their websites.

I notice there are no prices on Chez Andys website, hmmmm, expensive?

Restaurants in Korat City

Korat is not a major tourist destination and there are relatively few expats living in this area of Thailand so please do not expect an overwhelming selection of restaurants which serve western style food.
I would however like to point out that there are definitely a number of excellent restaurants in town which are well worth visiting. If you ever do visit Korat then please do try and visit one of the excellent establishment listed down below.

Chez Andy
This well known Swiss Chef operates restaurants in both Koh Samui as well as in Nakhon Ratchasima.
His local establishment is located within walking distance of the ever so popular night market and serves high quality European and Asian dishes.
It is also one of the only venues in the area where you can get high quality Japanese beef and it is also home to one of the best wine collections in town.

Dr. Pizza
I really enjoy good pizzas and if you are looking for a place which offers them then do visit Dr. Pizza which is located on the outskirts of town in the Choho area.
It has a proper Italian brick style wood oven and the owner uses only the best and freshest ingredients.
What I also like about this dining venue is the fact that it has a lovely and relaxing terrace where you can sit and enjoy a nice cold drink and a bite to eat.

Amporn Restaurant
My favorite place for European food is Amporn which is also located in the center of Korat.
This lovely dining establishment is owned by another Swiss fellow and Gaston certainly knows how to spoil his customers.
They also have a large screen where you can watch live sporting events and they also have daily live folk music.

The Frog
One of the newest restaurants in town is The Frog.
It is owned and managed by a Thai chef who worked in various leading New York hotels.
The menu offers both Thai and European dishes and the price to quality relationship is simply outstanding.
It is open daily from 10:30 until 20:30.

Big Chili
One of the most popular places in town is Big Chili which is the only Mexican restaurant in the region. Although the eatery is owned by a Thai couple, the food is surprisingly authentic and outstanding.

This one is way out of date. Amporn has been gone for ages, before the date of the article I believe, and new places have opened. It's risky publishing old articles by authors who claim to live elsewhere. Better to check that they are accurate and up to date.

I see what you mean but the writer says he lives in Phuket and the 'other one' has lived in Cho Ho for quite some time. Must be a coincidence. Unusual name though. Could you send Dr. Watson on the train down to Phuket to find him?

Let me introduce a newly opened Italian Restaurant called PIDASO on Mitrapap Rd, opp. to WAT KOKPROM......halfway between Simatani Hotel and the Mall. It is

Chez Andy is good but you pay for it, not unusual.

For breakfast, then it's got to be that place outside Suranaree Uni, can't remember the name now.

Baloo's food is good but he's...well....not the perfect host, so to speak, talks too much.....well.....you know and is at sometimes of the year are not family or girlfriend/wife friendly as we all know what cracks off at certain times of the year, wife gets all the pros in.

Rest on the list are garbage that pretend to be good.

C'mon DD, you can do a better list than that, spending too much time CM?

I can't even remember the last time I went to Chiang Mai

I really could do with a holiday, the last few weeks I have been renovating my place, at the rate I'm going by the time the renovation is done it will be time to start again, really do need a smaller place, or maybe just wall off the top 3 floors and forget about them.

No thanks! I choose my forums as carefully as I choose my restaurants.

It would be useful to have more from you on here. You flooded this board with free advertisements this week and are now shy to tell more.

People are saying that the restaurant is small and expensive. Is that correct? Farang in Korat are quick to knock any new venture that offers them something so it would be great if you told us more yourself.

Pitini, perhaps. A great place for lunch and dinner too. The red wine by the glass is a Merlot at the moment.
