Silk Festival, Pak Tong Chai - 2012

Folks, you have until 16th to experience this year's festival.

The centre of town is packed with silk stalls, other clothing, furniture food, beer booths, plants stalls and the usual mix of nick knack stalls. There's live music, Thai dancing and, this year, Gangam style dancing! You will also have the opportunity to become the proud owner of a Kunthip mattress!

The annual Silk Festival in PTC is just about the best in the area. Sure, it has the usual mix of offerings amongst the less common ones but there's something special about the atmosphere and local people make a special effort to add the feel of old Thai village life.

Top Cafe is behind the amphur office for those who want beer other than Chang or food other than the usual festival fair.

I recommend arriving between 5.00 and 6.00pm. It's getting cooler then and parking is easier. The festival covers the main street down town, the amphur and land office's car park and the streets either side of the car park. enter the main street at the northern end just after the hospital and drive through the traffic lights. If you can't park around there, u-turn where you can go no further and there's more street parking and off-street parking just there.

Had a look yesterday about 1pm onwards. Interesting but will obviously be a lot more fun after 6pm and when the music starts. Should be good tonight - being the last night. My Mrs found a stand of 'Chul Farm', Pechabun, very informative. Also she used to work there as a Lass, 750 baht a month - that's not much. Didn't find Top cafe though - will try again.
