How well served is Korat by reasonable restaurants?
« on: September 12, 2015, 04:48:57 PM »
Please excuse a 'newbie' coming in with questions so early in the piece, but how well served is Korat by reasonable restaurants? By that I mean reasonable quality, price and variety, to both Thai and farang customers.

I have a couple of Thai friends looking into starting up a business in which I may have a small interest.

Edit by admin: quote removed and split to make new thread.

There are plenty of Thais who learned about gastronomy for farangs while working in Phuket or Pattaya. Upon their return to Korat they opened restaurants with their savings, serving the needs of Thais and farangs alike. It's the restaurants run by farangs, that don't prosper all, because their owners don't seem to understand that their clientele not only needs to include Thais; targeting Thai gourmets with classy international cuisine still offers chances.

You must be a mind reader, as my thoughts were very close to yours. No "one size fits all" approach.

Hi B and FWIW, I agree very much with Johnnie's view. I'd only add that even when targeted properly as per Johnnie's advice, I think there is quite a lot of competition in the sector. Let us know if your Friends go head. ATB
