Football in Korat - the SWATCATS
« on: March 01, 2013, 01:00:51 PM »
The new league season begins tomorrow. Korat play in Yamaha League 1 and last year finished mid table. They have signed many new players for the 2013 season (including 3 Japanese, two Brazilians and a N. Korean). The Club have plenty of Sponsorship and are aiming to achieve promotion to the Thai Premier League next year.
Korat play in the SEA Complex, close to the City on the Pak Thong Chai road - in HM The King 80th Birthday stadium. It is a very impressive stadium and crowds are usually 7-10,000 - we are among the best supported Clubs in Thailand.
It could be a dramatic season. If you like Football, come along. Parking is easy.
You can read more about it on http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/koratfc/ - an English language website.

KICK OFF is 6.30 PM Saturday March 2nd, (if you arrive a little early, you can usually get a beer outside before the game).
COME ON SWATCATS !

Lost 1-2 to another hot favourite for promotion this year - Bangkok FC.
Korat looking composed and a much better team than last season (after 20 signings) BUT the reserve Goalie had a howler !
Crowd looked like around 10,000. It's a good night out and the football is better than you might expect.

The Swatcats are doing well this year - currently 6th in Yamaha League 1, just below the Thai Premier League. Last night they won 5-0 and scored some great goals - they have some fine Players and are well worth a watch !
On June 5th they play Muangthong United the Thai Champions in the last 16 of the League Cup.
Parking and access is easy at the Stadium.

For those interested in Football, Korat's FC, the Swatcats, won their 3rd Yamaha League 1 game in a row last night, to move to 5th position, 5 points away from the 3d automatic promotion place to the Thai Premier League.
With more than 10 games to go - those who remember promotion from the Regional League, will know that Promotion is still, a real possibility.
The last home game attracted 11,000 I believe - the next home game, next Wednesday, will be well attended and there will be a great atmosphere in the Kings/SEA games stadium.
Recommended - entrance just 100 baht.

CTH TV - for Barclays Premier
« Reply #4 on: November 16, 2013, 04:57:41 PM »
Just in case there is one other football fan on this Forum ...
The EPL, Barclays Premier, is now in a package from CTH.
We recently changed from IPM which is pretty threadbare stuff for a falang !
CTH comes through a dish and has about 8 useful movie channels, 3 National Geographic, Sky News from the London studio and France 24 etc., cartoons for the kids and up to FOUR simultaneous live football games from England - I'll only watch the early KO's.
On many channels you can change the language.
Paid monthly it's 900 baht after a deposit of B2700 and B1000 for installation.
One year in advance brings it down to B700 monthly and two years B600 monthly
IMO it's a decent package and for EPL, good value compared to the previous True TV football package around B2000 monthly.

Hello Mike. No the Swatcats finished in 5th position in Yamaha 1 - their highest ever.
After winning their last 10 games in row at home, they fell short of promotion due to poor results away - only 3 wins all season.
Next year they should be pushing for promotion to the TPL though.
(Swatcats crowd attendances were more than double that of the Yamaha 1 Champions).
