Wildlife water survey in drought-hit Khao Yai park

A survey of natural water resources is underway in Khao Yai National Park to make sure the wild animals have enough to drink during the dry season, park chief Kanchit Srinoppawan said.

Mr Kanchit said he had ordered officials of Khao Yai National Park - a World Heritage Site straddling Prachin Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Ratchasima and Saraburi provinces - to survey the water  resources in their respective areas.

Mr Kanchit said initial reports indicated there was still sufficient water for wild animals.

Khao Yai National Park usually has sufficient water from rain during the dry season, including during the Songkran Festival.  However, it was not predictable what the situation would be this year, necessitating the survey of natural water resources so that proper preparations could be made as needed, he said.
