I read the article and, as usual, it is suspected the driver fell asleep. It happened at 9 am and he was coming from the Pattaya area so probably a safe assumption. This is too common an occurence here in Thailand of commercial drivers - vans, buses and trucks - where the driver falls asleep.  I do not know the laws about driver's hours of operation in Thailand but unfortunately I do know about enforcement of laws here.... wink wink
Just curious if anyone does know the number of hours a commercial driver can operate and how often they must take a break and for how long. I know, in Canada, there are very precise laws of how long a driver can drive and when they must take a break and maximum number of hours in a specific period they can operate. They must also carry a log book to document their activities and it must be presented to any official who demands it. The fines and other penalties are huge for violators because they are trying avoid exactly what happens here.
Anyone have information?
