Ratchaburi invests in Huaybong 2 wind farm

Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Plc entered into an agreement to invest in a 20 per cent stake in Bt6.1 billion Huaybong 2 wind farm project in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Developed by KR 2 Co Ltd, the wind farm power has 103.5MW in capacity.

Under the shareholder agreement, Ratchaburi Holding will hold 20 per cent equity stake in KR 2 through an investment of Bt370 million, whereas Aeolus Power Co Ltd and Chubu Electric Power Korat, BV will hold 60 per cent and 20 per cent, respectively.

Huaybong 2 is Ratchaburi Holding’s third wind power project after Khao Kor Wind Farm and Huaybong 3.

According to its shareholding, the capacity from the three wind farm projects will be at the accumulated amount of 72 megawatts which is regarded as the largest portion among the company’s domestic renewable portfolio of 100 megawatts.

Noppol Milinthanggoon, chief executive officer, Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding, said that the company will finance the investment by cashflow.

The Huaybong 2 Wind Farm Power Project has been awarded a non-firm power purchase agreement for small power producer from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand with 10-year subsidy of Bt3.50 per unit adder from the Power Department Fund Management Division, Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission.

"Renewable energy investment is considered as one of our core businesses. The 100 megawatts goal was set to be accomplished in 2016. This investment not only emphasises that the company has achieved its steady growth but also reflects a progressive development of the country’s renewable energy business," Noppol said.
