NAKHON RATCHASIMA - Nine passengers were injured when the bus they were travelling in ran off the Mittraphap Highway and overturned in Non Sung district early on Monday morning, police said.

The Bangkok-bound bus was carrying 30 people from the northeastern province of Udon Thani.

The driver lost control on a curve and the bus ended up on its side off the road between kilometre markers 184 and 185 in Ban Donri, tambon Don Chompoo, about 1.50 am.

Nine passengers were injured. Rescuers rushed them to Non Sung Hospital. The driver fled the scene.

It was believed the driver dozed off at the wheel. Police said they would find him. He faces a charge of reckless driving causing injury to others.
