Korat-Vientiane bus link launched

The state-run Transport Company now connects Nakhon Ratchasima and Vientiane with a daily bus service that departs its terminal in Muang district of the province at 7:30am and arrives seven hours later at the Morning Market in the Lao capital.

The bus, air-conditioned, has seating capacity for 45 passengers, and the service was launched to facilitate passenger traffic either during the 25th SEA Games now in progress in Vientiane.

It's a non-stop 382-km ride from Nakhon Ratchasima via Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nong Khai and over the first Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge all the way to Vientiane. The fare is 320 baht one-way, or 86,100 kip. On the return leg the bus departs Laos' capital at 7:30am.

The Transport Company also has plans to extend the route to Vietnam in due course.

Call 1490 and 044-254-964 for details.

Previously the other buses, ie Nong Khai to Vientiane were for Thais only, this was due to the time wasted for farangs to get a visa into Laos, I should imagine if you can show the bus office that you already have a visa into Laos or that you are willing to be dropped off at the Friendship Bridge they would take you.
