400 modified motorcycles seized in Korat

Police and military personnel have seized about 400 motorcycles in a campaign carried out between July 1-9 in Muang and nearby districts against illegal racing on public roads.

Vichien Chantaranothai, the provincial governor, said at a news briefing on Monday that the campaign was carried out under National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Order No.22/2015 for authorities to end motorcycle racing on public roads.

During that period, 300 motorcycles were seized for being illegally modified for racing and another 102 for causing excessive noise. A total of 121 motorcycle repair shops providing modification services were being investigated.

About 300 motorcyclists were arrested on various charges including reckless driving, using illegally modified vehicles and riding motorcycles with excessive exhaust noise or without proper documents.

In Chai Nat, police early Monday arrested 20 motorcyclists, aged between 16 and 25, for gathering and drinking in public places and accelerating their motorcycle engines, causing public nuisance.

Some of the vehicles were seized for having no proper documents.

LOL.  I once saw a huge gang of motorcycle scooter boys gathered right in front of the Pok Klang Police station....the 304.  I don't give a sht if they race.  Hell, just go down to the stadium and check out all the skid marks on the road there.  Somebody's racing.  Maybe, they should open a race track or something.  Give away prizes for the fastest....sht like that.  Give them a place to race.
