2 hurt as train hits tractor-trailer in Korat

NAKHON RATCHASIMA – Two crewmen were hurt when a freight train hauling 14 tanks of bunker oil hit a tractor-trailer at a railway crossing in Muang district on Thursday.

The incident occurred at about 11am at the Ban Saraphi crossing in tambon Maroeng. The train was transporting the oil from Nakhon Ratchasima to Ubon Ratchathani.

Daeng Phimasan, 50, the driver of the big rig, said he didn't notice a signboard telling motorists that the barrier at the crossing was under repair and he was unaware the train was coming. It was struck in the rear by the freight train.

Sunart Phiewthong-ngam, 46, the traindriver, was wounded in the head and Prasit Suthikul, 36, an engineer, was hurt in the back. They were admitted to Suranaree Military Hospital.

Following the incident, the route to the lower Northeast provinces was closed temporarily. It was expected to be re-open at 1pm.

Well that could have been a lot worse ! No derailment ?
The lorry Driver didn't notice the barrier was under repair ?
Or that he was driving over a railway line with 20 metres of steel behind ?
Myself even when a barrier is working, I look both ways at these crossings which do have a bad record in Thailand I believe.

Yes, could have been a whole lot worse if the train had hit the gas tanks behind the cab.

Thaiga. Your purported quote was inaccurate.
What I said on March 20th was that 'I would not bother you with too much discussion in future'. That's it !

Your posts were removed concerning Double ID's, we've been through all that in another thread before.
you also bring two other members names into the post accusing them as doing the same.

Then you post (below)

In that case I'll cut my posting (no great loss except to me) but I would like to continue updating on SCLP cancer vaccines and Swatcats
