Something Fishy Again With 3G Deal
« on: May 04, 2012, 01:06:00 PM »
The Information and Communications Technology Ministry said new evidence has surfaced which indicates political interference in the 3 G service agreement  between CAT Telecom and True Corp.
ICT Minister Anudith Nakornthap said he received a copy of a  signed contract for the sale of Hong Kong-based Hutchison Telecom’s cellular network assets in Thailand worth Bt7billion to CAT.
The deal was signed before the cabinet of the previous government but for reasons unknown the transaction was not consummated.
However, six months later the same deal was signed between Hutch and True Corp leading to the present agreement between CAT and True on the 3 G service.
DSI deputy director-general Pravesana Mulpra-mook said the further investigation is required and the results should be revealed within a month.
