Recommended Firefox Add-Ons
« on: December 13, 2011, 08:21:34 PM »
I'm sure there are a good few of you out there that use Firefox and I must say that they do a lot of great add-ons.

Thing is, that they do so many of them that sometimes it's hard to find the ones that you really want. Perhaps this thread can give people a chance to recommend the ones they have already tried, which they rate well, and save some searching time for those that wish to get more.

If you can give the name of the add-on and what you think or maybe a quick bit of help on how to use if needs be, even give with a link to the page to download.

I'll start off with these three........

Ghostery.........identifies and alerts you to the trackers that are 'watching' on every web page you visit, like Google/Add This/Facebook etc, and gives you the option to block them....cool.

Browserprotect........Alerts and blocks browser attacks............... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browserprotect/?src=cb-dl-toprated

BetterPrivacy............Protects you from those damned sneaky LSO cookies that attach themselves to you at lots of sites that are usually not deletable with many applications.

gTranslate  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/gtranslate/
With gTranslate you can translate any text in a webpage just by selecting and right-clicking over it.

The problem with the firefox addons.some are not compatable with the version your using.so then i found this
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nightly-tester-tools/

Ironically this is a Firefox add-on that will help you make all other incompatible extensions compatible with the browser version you’ve got.GUESS WHAT its not compatable with the version im using.

I'm tiring of Firefox. Each of the frequent upgrades leaves one or more add-ons useless. I'm avoiding the latest upgrade until I get confirmation that the incompatible add-ons are now acceptable.

This one is also useful too as the wheel on the mouse can be a bit twitchy with FF.

This might be of interest to some folks, it a key scrambler and scrambles/encrypts keystrokes in your browser, IE and Firefox only by the look of it, but reckon it's quite good in the fight against keylogger felons.
