How to get your free 10GB mobile data

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications (NBTC) has announced criteria to register for 10 gigabyte (GB) of mobile broadband data per person to promote working from home during the Covid-19 outbreak.

The campaign starts on Friday (April 10) at 8am and the free data will be available for 30 days from the day of approval. The last day for registration is April 30 at 11.59pm.

To be eligible, users must be Thai nationals and one person can register for only one telephone number. The number must have been registered for use before March 31.

To get your free 10GB data, simply send *170*(13 digits of your ID card number)# from your mobile phone, and in 3-5 minutes the operator will send you confirmation.

Users of home internet will get free upgrade of their data package up to 100 megabits per second (Mbps) without having to register, as the operators will automatically upgrade starting April 10 at 0.01am and it will be valid for 30 days. It is notable that the 100Mbps limit is available for fiber internet only, while ADSL and copper wire-based internet will get free upgrade to the maximum capacity that their technology can provide.

NBTC expects the free upgrade of home internet campaign to benefit up to 1.2 million households.

yes t.t you have a 13 digit number on the card - like thai id card. better than having to carry your passport on occasions when you need to.

the pinkie is accepted. also can be used as a form of identification while flying domestically in the kingdom of Thailand, to check into (some) hotels, also providing the holder with special discounts when visiting national parks and other tourist attractions where prices for foreigners are considerably higher than the prices for Thai nationals. not sure about the bank though.

Mobile operators offer 100 free minutes for local voice calls   nationthailand.com
In a bid to ease the financial pressure brought on by the Covid-19 outbreak, all mobile phone operators are offering both postpaid and prepaid subscribers 100 minutes free for phone calls to any local landline or local cell number over and above the free minutes granted under their existing packages.

This package is being granted under a collaboration between the government, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and five telecom operators.

Subscribers can apply for this free 100-minute voice call offer from May 1 to 15 by dialling *170*, followed by their identity card number, press # and call out. The free minutes kick in as soon as an SMS is received for confirmation and are valid for 45 days.

Each network allows one freebie per subscriber. Juristic entities are not eligible. The five operators are Advanced Info Service, True Corp, Total Access Communication, TOT and CAT Telecom. The NBTC also recently sponsored free 10-gigabytes of mobile data for 30 days, which can be applied for from April 10 to 30.

How Lih Ren, chief marketing officer at dtac, said his company was glad it was able to ease the financial burden on people affected by the Covid-19 outbreak. He said his firm was also lowering the current price plans and has boosted the value of both prepaid and postpaid packages to benefit everybody, from students to small business owners, families or persons working from home.

"Our teams are also working 24/7 to boost the network capacity by three times nationwide, with a focus on high-traffic areas such as hospitals and residential areas, as many people are now working from home. At Dtac, our promise to connect customers to what matters most is more critical than ever."

AIS extends free call time offer to foreigners  nationthailand.com

Advanced Info Service (AIS) has extended its offer of 100 minutes of free calls to cover foreigners as well as Thai customers.

Pratthana Leelapanang, AIS's chief consumer business officer, said the Covid-19 outbreak and response measures were affecting the lifestyle of both Thais and foreigners in Thailand, demanding adjustments including learning or working from home, online shopping, and communication to help others.

“All of this needs a quality communication system to ensure efficiency in the activities," he said.

Foreign AIS customers can apply for the 100 free minutes by sending their passport number by SMS to 170 between May 1 and 15. The service is available to both post-paid and pre-paid subscribers.

A confirmation message will be sent and they will be able to use the free call minutes immediately for 45 days.

The free call privilege, for which Thai mobile phone users can apply from all five telecom operators from today until May 15, is the result of a collaboration between the operators and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, to ease people’s burden amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Subscribers will be granted the 100 free minutes for phone calls to any local landline or local cell number over and above the free minutes under their existing packages.

Thai subscribers can apply for the free 100 minutes of calls from May 1 to 15 by dialling *170*, followed by their identity card number, then pressing #. The free minutes kick in as soon as an SMS is received for confirmation and are valid for 45 days.

Re: 11.96 million people receive 100 minutes free local voice call

The campaign will expire at midnight on Friday [May 15] - valid for 45 days

11.96 million people receive 100 minutes free local voice call

Nearly 12 million numbers have registered to receive free 100 minutes local voice call under the government’s campaigns to help alleviate the people’s financial burden during the Covid-19 situation, National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) secretary-general Takorn Tantasith said on Thursday (May 14).

The NBTC has coordinated with six mobile operators in Thailand -- Advanced Info Service, True Corp, Total Access Communication (dtac), TOT, CAT Telecom and Penguin -- to offer both postpaid and prepaid subscribers 100 minutes free for phone calls to any local landline or local cell number over and above the free minutes granted under their existing packages.

Subscribers can apply for this free 100-minute voice call offer from May 1 to 15 by dialling *170*, followed by their identity card number, press # and call out. The free minutes kick in as soon as an SMS is received for confirmation and are valid for 45 days. Only individual users with Thai nationality can avail of this offer.

“Of the 11.96 million numbers registered, 8.99 million numbers are from prepaid phones while 2.97 numbers are from postpaid phones,” said Thakorn. “AIS has the most registered subscribers with 6.91 million numbers, followed by True (3.08 million), DTAC (1.84 million), CAT (0.12 million), TOT (4,645) and Penguin (1,488).

“The campaign will expire at midnight on Friday [May 15], so if you haven’t registered yet please hurry,” he added.

“According to NBTC’s survey, over 70 per cent of registrants reside in rural areas and they use voice call to contact relatives in other provinces during the Covid-19 situation as the lockdown measures prevent them from physically visiting the relatives,” said Thakorn. “The NBTC is proud to help Thai people get in touch during a crisis as well as promote the government’s policy of social distancing.”
