Firefox 4.0
« on: April 30, 2011, 10:17:02 PM »
Read on the other forum about somebody having problems with upgrading Firefox. Bookmarks, passwords etc. were all gone besides most of the plug-ins not being compatible.

I'm running Firefox 4.0.1 now which I downloaded  and installed again directly from mozilla.com after my upgrade to 4.0. wasn't working so well either, was slow. One plug-in (page speed) isn't compatible right now. Gotta wait for an upgrade on that to make the plug-in function again. All others do work or have upgrades available already. Bookmarks etc. for Firefox are stored in Local Disc (C) > Users > my account > AppData > local > Mozilla > Firefox > Profiles > ... The upgrade usually doesn't clear the caches there. So you might get them all working again by a fresh installation of Firefox. Even uninstalling Firefox first will not clear the data there. The problem seems to lie in the download or in the installation. Just try again!

By the way having a backup copy from that AppData folder helped me already over the pain of having to find out all my passwords and optimizations again after a Windows Crash. It also contains all my email (Outlook). Normally that is a hidden folder, it must be unhidden first. Check for  "unhide folders" in Help and Support" in the Start Menu.

I have been using 4.0.1 for a couple of days, been finding it real slow, lots of hanging and buggy, on the page hanging occasionally I have the same site open in opera or chrome at the same time and get no problems, ie may refresh this page on firefox and it starts hanging but still can quite happily surf it in opera without any hangings or whatever.

Firefox 4.0 was released as a RTW product during the week of March 21.

Unfortunately during ePO product development, a line has to be drawn in the sand regarding browser support. It is very difficult to continuously roll support for browser versions to the latest and greatest, as it would adversely impact the release date due to development and testing implications. While IE9.0 is not officially supported it can be run in compatibility mode.

I believe you will see support for Firefox 4.0 added at a later date.

Clocks at Mozilla.com must be running extremely fast. My FF version now is already 8.0 :-[

I lost all my bookmarks when I upgraded to one of the new versions. So I went back to 3.6.24. I'm still using 3.6.24 and no problems.
