My TOT landline and ADSL internet is dead again since last Friday. The modem is logged in, but shows a red light for "no internet connection". Did a dog leak against one of their poles and caused a short?  ::)

That's shocking news :(

I haven't posted about my 3bb connection as i didn't want to speak too soon, as they say.
since September 08, 2016 going strong.

Took them 5 days to fix; now it's crawling at the 6Mbps again. The phone line is still dead. But I don't use that anyway.

Wow! big storm last night, knocked out 3bb - but when the it passed it reconnected - must have a reset
So since September 2016 2 outages lasting about 20 minutes each time.

In the meanwhile TOT have been out laying new cables every where, but that's no good if they can't keep them connected  8)

I must be one of TOT's very last customers. Since a week my TOT internet was hardly working at all. So I had already changed to a temporary 3G package by AIS over my mobile phone, planning to get connected to the fiber optics cable by 3BB that's running by my house.

Today TOT mechanics showed up to check my connection without being asked, presumably feeling the need to keep me customer. I let them move the cable to a new room I'm using as office now. Later my connection worked fine again, showing around 8 Mbps on the speed tests.

But as soon as I can afford it I will get connected to the fiber optics still

3bb are so far in front - they sure are the leaders in the market - of course all the other providers will have to follow suit on the price

If anyone is considering a change \ upgrade it is worth looking at SINET.

We have been with them 4 years now.  We have an agreement where when we go overseas, they Switch Off the Internet, They DO NO charge us, and Switch it back on when we arrive back in Thailand ( be that 1 month or 6 month no problem ) all with NO charges.

so what do you go for fibre optic or the old copper wire connection, what with the high loaded or should i say over loaded itacs, back hoes, tractors, lorrys, then the guy sitting on top nearly touching the mass of cables that's running up and down the soi, they often get damaged. now with the old copper wire connection no problem, can be repaired in minutes, the fibre optic made up of glass particles is not so easy the cost to repair fiber optic cable might be a little bit expensive because of the equipment involved and could result in a longer waiting time to get reconnected :-[  arr a one way connector

downforeveryoneorjustme / I like the heading as some farangs think on the lines of justforme he he

Wireless fiber is the answer,no cables at all, that maybe light years away.just how much cable is there strung on electric poles and who knows which ones are in use,but for some it's not which connection to choose,as there not all available to everybody. if your lucky enough to be where the connections are.
the more cables added will make a bigger problem when they have one.

ignorance does not help your post one bit but it probably says an awful lot about you.

as Surging traffic is slowing down the internet people working from home, watching films trying to entertain the kids home from school. the vast amount of people on media services, looking as to what the situation is at the moment, emailing loved ones, families abroad. that's a lotta bandwidth. company officials said they had never seen such a steep, sudden surge.

Surging traffic is slowing down internet

So much traffic and stress on internet networks has slowed the speed of downloading webpages and apps, according to Ookla.

“I don’t know if we’ll soon see a peak, not for weeks to come,” he said. “The reason I say that is because we aren’t seeing traffic in Asia slow down even now.”

3bb had a blowout last night for about an hour - call centre down as well - lets hope all providers can stay up at a time when the people need it most.

True triples bandwidth capacity as Internet, mobile usage see big leap due to Covid-19

“We detected increased usage in all of our channels, including fiber and broadband internet, cable TV and mobile phone,” he said. “In the past month, the internet bandwidth usage has increased 52 per cent while mobile data usage has increased 18.4 per cent.”

To cope with the increase in demand, True Corp has increased its domestic and international bandwidth capacity by up to three times, Jirachai said.

“We realise that communication infrastructure is one of the basic needs of modern people especially in the time of virus crisis where people are advised to keep their distance from each other but still need to stay in touch,” he said.

“True will make sure that our customers have a seamless online experience whether they are watching breaking news, working from home via video conferencing or browsing entertainment content from international sources.

My 3BB now is still at about half the speed of normal. But yesterday it did break down under something else than just too much demand, I guess. The nearest available servers were far away...

3BB Leverages Its Strength to Continue to Be No. 1 Home Internet in Thailand  nationthailand.com

3BB has announced that it will continue to develop its network and services after winning the “Best Fixed Internet Performances in 2019” award from nPerf at the beginning of this year.

Mr. Yordchai Asawathongchai, Director of Jasmine International Public Company Limited and  Executive Vice President  of Operating Group, Triple T Broadband Public Company Limited or 3BB, said the award is testament to the quality of 3BB’s internet services that manifest the company’s tangible network development. Up until today, 3BB has been investing to maintain this standard of excellence.

Ready for Every Situation

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak and the coming summer storm season in Thailand, home internet traffic is surging with the possibility of interrupted internet connections. To keep internet disruption to the minimal, 3BB is monitoring the system more frequently and providing 24-hr support with teams of engineers and technicians on standby in every province for immediate assistance.

No. 1 in Coverage
3BB has the most fibre optic networks in Thailand, meaning it can unlimitedly provide high-speed internet for all customers. 3BB has set the new speed standard of home internet at 1 Gbps, placing Thailand among the countries with the fastest internet connections in the world.

New Strength Added
Recently added to 3BB’s strength is digital content for customers, including streaming content from HBO GO and MONOMAX in the 3BB GIGATainment package. In the future, 3BB plans to expand its platform further by producing its own content and improving touchpoints in order to transform old experiences into digital-ready ones.

I've got no reason to complain about my 3BB connection for 749 Baht. Of course the sites from Europe and North America don't come in quite as fast as the Server in Korat.

TOT, CAT introduce affordable home internet package

(NNT) - The coronavirus pandemic is forcing more people to stay at home, making a capable internet connection essential for work and study online. The Ministry of a Digital Economy and Society has joined interests with telecom providers to offer a special home internet package, with free installation and a 3-month bonus.

The Minister of a Digital Economy and Society, Puttipong Punnakanta has announced that telecom providers TOT and CAT Telecom will be offering a new fixed broadband home internet package, with 100 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload speeds, to facilitate online communications, as well as work and study from home.

The new package will be offered at 390 baht per month for households with no internet connection. Customers will receive a free 3-month bonus after the first 12 bills. The companies aim to offer this package to 100,000 customers, helping more people have access to the internet at an affordable price.

TOT Acting President Pipat Khanthong, said today the membership fee, equipment costs, and installation fees will be waived. Customers in remote areas can also sign up, thanks to the Net Pracharat village internet infrastructure that covers more than 24,000 networks nationwide.

Interested persons can sign up for this special package from 10th May to 31st July this year, by calling CAT Telecom cell center 1322, or TOT call center 1100.
