Bangkok gets a Massive Update on Google Street View
« on: October 12, 2012, 11:31:26 AM »
For those people who love exploring places from the comfort of their own armchair, there is some good news this week. Google has just released a major update to Streetview.

This was officially launched in Thailand in March 2012 (see my report). Back then we were impressed with their coverage. They had done a lot in a really short time. But, they haven’t been resting. Literally the day after the official launch, the Google Streetview cars were seen out and about on the streets of Bangkok and other areas around Thailand

To see Street View in action, just visit http://maps.google.co.th and to the left of the screen you will see a little man above the zoom control. Drag him onto the map and you will see blue lines like above. This tells you which areas have already been photographed. In these two screenshots from March 2012 (above) and October 2012 (below), you can clearly see how much more area around Bangkok and the neighbouring provinces have now been photographed. Other areas include the road north to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and the road south to Phuket.

Anyone who goes to a psychiatrist should have his head examined.
