Nick registrations by drunk person

We had an obviously drunk person who registered 7 different nicks last night. These nicks are used on other boards by known members of the Korat expat community.

Since this board does not require email verification the emails given are most likely false.

When I have some spare time I'll send a mass email to those addresses and in case of no response by the owner of the address just delete those registrations. Nevertheless evidence of these registrations with the IP numbers from the same proxy server plus the other details of those registrations (computer used, screen res, OS, browser etc.) will be kept on file for identification in case of further attempts to cause problems in Korat's internet community.

Plus I have increased the difficulty level of the captcha to be solved at registrations and guest posting to make it a little more difficult for drunks to spam this forum. Once you are a member with at least 5 posts there'll  be no captcha requirement for you anymore.

Would it be a good idea to post a warning about these attempts at impersonations on the forums where the genuine owners of those names usually post?

It's always a good idea to make our fellow expats aware of the mischievous activity of others that could discredit them.

Not too long but I definitely had to look closely and think about it carefully. I'm not convinced it would stop a drunk man posting though.


NB. This time took less time than the last time. Next time should be a doddle.

If necessary we could add a lot of security questions to be answered first like "Are you certain you had just enough beers to post here, and not far too many?" (Yes, the bartender refused to serve me any more / No, I filled up to the required level first) with only one of the answers being correct.

Koratfart, did you see the links he was posting?  It appears the little drama queen of korat had a few too many at the G&D last night.  The boy has completely lost it.  Get ready for another assault tonight as I'm sure he's not finished yet.

Since last night around 1900 hrs local time Korat posting  and registering from Volico (proxy server near Fort Lauderdale, Fla) wasn't possible. The forum showed the message "Sorry, closed for posting and registration until midnight UTC" upon any attempts. Maybe it was just too hard to find another proxy server with a heavy head, maybe peace came to Korat... I'll disable the block now and enable it again tonight. Just served to protect the ones in our midst who don't know anymore what they're doing when they had a couple of pints too much.

Koratfart, what's funny is he trying to play all innocent over at the KF board, like he didn't do anything wrong and that this was an unprovoked attack on him.  He has seriously lost it completely.  What's sad is that I think some of the people over at KF are actually believing his lies and garbage.  I wonder how a guy like this lives with himself.

Sorry, the administration of this board isn't responsible for what gets posted and not removed on other forums.

It's always up to the reader how much he believes of what has been posted.

We're trying to be a little more tolerant for each other's weaknesses in our expat community in Korat. Even don't take admins to court when they didn't remove slandering or "calls for lynch-justice" that just expose the poster's mental state.

I don't want to say too much; so "live and let live" but not "get attacked and don't defend"!

If somebody wants to live in a dream let him be there as long as he doesn't intrude into your life too deep. Though we're responsible for each other to a certain degree we should only exercise force on others, if and as long as necessary.
