Malicious Hacker Alert
« on: May 17, 2009, 05:51:34 PM »
I received a Malicious Hacker Alert about a guy who also registered on this board two hours ago: "krisbarteo"

I don't know whether he could already implant his script and cause damage to this board. I banned him immediately. He spent 69 seconds on this board. I will check according to the info I got.

Looks clean! He didn't have opportunity to upload his avatar which is said to contain the malicious code that destroys part of the software and delivers the email addresses and maybe passwords to the master.

smf for years have had bad problems with attacks run from images, can't understand why they have never beefed it up, they just seem to do half hearted fixes all the time, with all free ware boards though never allow attachments, that is there weakest point, for avatars and uploading them there should be a rewrite script which cleans any text off and rewrites it as say smf avatar username, worth downloading if smf has it.
