A Bit Slow
« on: May 11, 2012, 08:50:43 PM »
I'm often getting slow response times at the moment and, occasionally, a server not found message.

To be honest, me too, I've had problems also this evening getting onto this site and had either nothing or been redirected to some site that has nothing to do with it.  :uhm

Some crappy video site (didn't look at the title of it during my fit of contempt) but it seems to have cleared up now after cleaning the PC and doing a restart.

There seems to be some problem at the domainhost, like somebody hijacking the traffic. All sites connected to my web server from that domainhost seem to be either redirected on the web to some spammer site or don't work at all. I logged into the control panel there, deleted the A record and entered it again. That seems to have had for this site here some effect, maybe it was just coincidence. For all the others from that domainhost it didn't work at all. The sites where I got the domain registered by the webhost all do work fine. I contacted the webhost; they told me that the domains are directing at a wrong IP address. I should ask the domainhost for a resetting. Contacted the domainhost over their chat, but only got the message they would contact me back, which still hasn't happened. In the control panel at the domainhost everything seems set correctly.

Maybe I should move the domains to be hosted by the webhost, too. Just costs a lot more!

At least not completely gone like the other sites. Seems to be a curious thing. Guess we'll have to wait for the people at the domainhost to react.

The more I experiment and look at different sites or change settings back and forth, the more it looks like an internet problem to me , not one of the webhost or domainhost.

Still I sent a second complaint to the domainhost:

Hi,

already yesterday I reported to you via the chat form on your website that about all of my domains now either are not working at all or extremely slow.

I already contacted my webhost, who attributes it to the A records not pointing correctly to his IP. Read their opinion below. Unfortunately  I haven't heard of you, yet. Isn't it possible to solve the problem?

Tschuess

  Not only this forum -------

If the other sites have the same problem of the email not arriving and not being able sending email on their domains this will turn out as a major internet disaster.

We must be privileged! This forum is working at the moment. Most other sites of mine are not. Even SKYPE isn't working correctly. So we gotta live with an internet disaster this weekend. Neither my webhost nor my domainhost are answering emails. Looks like hiding is the best way out for them. Nobody knows exactly what is the problem!

One moment things work, the next they don't work anymore. Still think it has to do with the domainhost. Their name servers might be under attack by a competitor. They play dead and not answer chat or emails! Not long ago Paypal threw them out, allegedly because they had allowed those fake pharmacies to register domains with them. What they deny to have known about.

Change domain host?

Actually I don't find things working like before at the webhost, either. I can see that one of them made a change in my webaccount, probably testing. A stupid change that couldn't work!

Then I find my browser being hooked by a script it cannot handle properly after attempting to open one of the sites that doesn't work anymore since yesterday afternoon. That points in the direction of an internet error, improper processing between server and my PC.

Changing the domainhost couldn't be done overnight, either. It would take a while, at least three or four days, apart from higher costs at other domainhosts.

Better not react too fast, let them answer my complaint first. They know what unhappy customers can cause with reports about flops...

Tried to move a domain to another domainhost for testing. But Paypal doesn't work either. So I cannot pay for that.

That is definitely not a message from our webhost. Could be at the domainhost's nameservers or somewhere between here and the webhost by an ISP.

To me it looks like working for a while already.

There were some problems with the land line service too, today. There was either a poor connection or none at all.

Just checked response times: Slowest data flow was Bloomsburg, PA, US (34.68 KB/sec), second slowest Toronto, ON, CA (36.93 KB/sec), then as third slowest Bangkok, Thailand, with 44.31 KB/sec. Fastest was Dallas, TX, US, with 796.23 KB/sec. of altogether 46 results. Our server is in Gunzenhausen, Germany.

Hacked! Recently we had to delete material put on this site by a third party without webmaster involvement. This is the second time in a month that hacking has been experienced. We urge anyone downloading anything from this website to ensure that it is actually sanctioned material. As of this time we are also unable to open headlines or editorial pages with normal browser. FYI. :uhm

I'm usually at 75-100 mb/s.  Here is where I am at as of today...seems to average around 30 mb/s..still fast but when you're used to 100mb/s 30 seems slow :P  It does seem to be pretty consistent no matter what server I connect to.  The ping is virtually the same in all tests 5ms. I too had some trouble connecting to KF yesterday.  The problem seems to have cleared itself up.  The internet here is so unpredictable at times.
