Beautiful plot of land in Phimai for sale, 39 rai and 65 sq wah ( 62.660 square meters or 6.266 hectares)
Super price: 120.000 bath per rai (total: 4.680.000 thai bath)
The land has a land road all around the plot.
There is plenty of water available because the land adjoins an irrigation channel!
This is very useful because this allows the farmer two or up to three harvests per year.
The land also touches a public road.
Distance from the land to the Phimai-Hindat road is 800 meters.
Distance from the land to the closest house (neighbor) is 400 meters.
Distance from the land to Phimai center is about 5000 meters.
There has never in the history been flooding in this region of Phimai.
The land can be used for farming land as well as house building plot.
Details about the land (video, pictures, plans, copy chanot,…) can be found on:
www. thaihometown.com/land/10820

Beautiful plot of land in Phimai for sale,

Beautiful would be, if Ben did contribute to the costs of running this forum!

Why be picky ?
Ben might be bringing someone a bargain !
I often see matters advertised on here without adverse comment ?

Since you don't contribute to the costs for the domain and hosting yourself, Roger, you should maybe support this forum by encouraging others to do so, especially when they're using this forum for business! Occasional private and small business ads can be posted for free, but Ben obviously intends business beyond that scale and on a regular basis. He/she should therefore contribute to the costs running this forum, as it is stated in our TOS of this subforum.

Johnnie I didn't notice that 'Ben' appears to be a business. Fair enough.
How much does it cost to run the Forum and who pays it ?
I agree with you - why not email Ben privately and ask for an appropriate sum ?

Roger, there are costs for the domain, webhosting, sometimes professional maintenance etc. Only some of them can be predicted. If you cover the salary and costs for office etc., I will hire a secretary to do the bookkeeping.

We have a very few members who have actually been donating to the costs. The remainder, or better almost all, comes from my pocket.

I agree with you - why not email Ben privately and ask for an appropriate sum ?

That's what I did when Ben "contributed" advertisements for his/her real estate business on Korat-Info. His/her answer was

It is a pity that you feel that way.
I am happy that other websites in Korat have a different idea about forums than you have. Here you have for example a reaction of a member of another forum in Korat:

Quote
post your ads here for the benefit of everyone

It seems that people understand that it can be for the benefit of all the members to allow these adds. just take a look at the number of views of the members that read these ads and you will see that many members are interested and want to know about prices, land and house prices, ....

You clearly have a different view and I feel sorry for that.

Good luck in any case

PS.
I think we should have this discussion on the forum and ask the members of the forum what they think about this subject. perhaps that the reactions of the members will open your eyes so that you can see the benefit for all the members.

We did have a discussion there

http://koratfart.com/korat-web-news/advertising-on-forums/

Do we need do discuss it over again? :spin

Thanks for your reply Johnnie but with respect, you must know roughly what KF costs without hiring a Secretary or Bookkeeper.
It's very nice of you to pay most of the costs but if you want donations, why not give us an idea of how much you are talking about ?

It's not so easy to split the costs between my three major sites Koratfart.com, Korat-Info.com and Korat.info, tell which costs how much, as they're all running over the same server. All three are visited well, this here probably best, Korat-Info.com second. All together they cost about $300 a year in webhosting, domains and costs for administration like my HDDs for backups etc.. Hired help, when problems need to be fixed etc might be at an average of $100 more a year.

But like most forums and blogs they do grow continuously in size and popularity.

Just half an hour ago the webhost answered to my question about the many error messages "(11)Resource temporarily unavailable: fork: Unable to fork new process", that my sites' visitors more often keep putting too much load on the database server, why it switches off temporarily. They suggest to upgrade to a higher tariff to avoid that.

Generally it can be said, the more money you can invest into a site, the better you can make it.

Question answered to your satisfaction?  :)

Most people running sites like this do think only that it's a struggle to get a site going, getting to the bandwidth and storage capacity limits etc. But what when they do reach those limits? Then they have to keep it running, which is increasingly difficult with growing size and popularity. Every backup is taking longer to download etc.

Oh well, just got notice that korat.info was hacked and abused for the distribution of malware. Now it has been suspended. Don't know whether I have time and mind to repair that again so soon. Have to set it up anew all. :spin

Happened to koratforum.com before, why I don't have all scripts anymore, just those from an old backup.

Running sites on the internet today is not much fun anymore with all those spammers, hackers and other bad people. Least problematic is using services like blogger.com, where others take care of security and the software. But then those others have power over your content...

Just one question, Roger:

Are those who hack others' websites, so they can mail their ads for Vagra or the like over the hacked site also entitled to do so, because they might be bringing someone a bargain or whatever?

Good morning Johnnie.
Thanks for your reply about the costs - I asked the question simply because I was interested. It's very good of you to run these 3 sites at your own expense and your time taken must be considerable. Thanks for that.
I guess you must do it for the love of it but at say $150 a site p.a. that's a notable expense. I guess there is almost no advertising income - I can't remember seeing any adverts at all on KF. And I guess if there was a fee for general posters to join some would not go for it.
I explained before that I thought the advert was interesting but I didn't realise at first that it came from a business.
In adverts generally I see no harm and they bring a bit of variety but I agree that a contribution to your costs should be made.
Regarding your last post re. hacked in adverts, of course I agree with you.
Thanks for the info. and I understand your Forum better for it.
And thanks again for providing this facility.

Roger, good communities on the internet don't need advertisement revenue, the members take care of the costs by pitching-in. Korat-Info.com for example is almost completely covered by private member donations. Members there expressively voted against advertisement, and they live up to that by donating. Koratfart till now had two businesses and two private members donating. I don't think either, that a virtual community should feature advertising. The Bidvertizer frame* (not working on Android or without JAVA installed) down the page I'm running as experiment. For 13,039 impressions and 2 clicks,  it brought $0.21 this month, not worth running it at all. Acquiring advertising customers in Korat is a job I'm not interested in doing. That's why we don't have local advertising.

Due to the increased hacking of semi-popular sites for the purpose of distributing malware and spam I now don't think it such a good idea anymore to run all three sites on open-source software and over the same shared-hosting server/web account, as they pose hazards to each other, endangering all three when one gets hacked. Though it will just add to the costs I will start separating them. Korat.info will be set up completely new on another host, once I made up my mind which host and what software. Good software, that hackers don't target as much as the far more widely-used open-source software is another cost factor. The old database on b2evolution with the news articles till yesterday I will maybe set up again as archive, when I managed things. The site was mainly accessed from the IP adresses of schools and universities, helping students to learn English, which was its main purpose intended by me. Though this forum is also used by students for learning and improving their English skills, a well-structured local news site with better-formulated articles does serve that more than the chat on a forum.

I think for Ben to say 'you should be grateful because we make your site interesting' (I paraphrase) is somewhat mendacious. I am not interested in what he posted, and would ignore the topic.

If the argument is 'why can Korat Chef post', I would suggest none of us know the details of a private arrangement: they may well be a financial contributor, but out of a respect for mutual confidentially over a business arrangement I don't think anyone other than J and KC has a right to know. And there is a convincing argument that KC provides a broad and useful public service to the wider expat community that deserves support. I've just had a delicious ham sandwich made with KC ham. I don't live here, it was prepared by my colleague who does. Delicious. My unpaid recommendation!

A word on the banner ad at the bottom: I don't like it at all. I'm using an iPad to read the forum and it makes the experience tedious: I have to avoid touching the banner when scrolling. But I'm completely neutral to the idea of ads: I sometimes look at Teak Door which is full of them, the problem being the nature of the ads. But if you are just browsing and flicking through to see if there is anything of note, the ads are irrelevant.

Hello ck and I agree that informative advertising is useful - but evenso it is very rare on KF IMO ?
Incidentally I agree about KC although I've not seen them advertise on KF and others like Nookiebear do provide excellent falang food too.
The occasional recommendation is ok, informative advertising is helpful and it's useful if a Pub/Restaurant can tell us of a coming event etc etc - but regular advertising or a business selling house etc. - I agree with J that a contribution is justified to help with the costs.

Roger: you're right - I don't think KC post here. But they do on the other forum, and I would say the same thing there. And as you say, the same applies to Nookie who also provides a very good service I believe. Sorry for causing a little confusion Johnnie: but the point I'm trying to make is that any commercial arrangements are your private business and no one else's. If Ben did a little research he would quickly discover you have made the point on unpaid advertising before.

I would have no problem if Ben paid for a small banner ad within the property section. Even better if he/ she contributed an occasional well written and researched article on property, which would give them some credibility as a professional real estate agent.

3. takeitor - currently a mere 320 Baht from 15 users covers the $150 a year needed!

I appreciate that all reviews and advice by users on this forum are subjective, but the moment advertising is introduced, neutrality, whether real or imagined, goes out of the window.

...and in response to CK's poll, I'd pick the un-featured "Be disappointed, but still use the forum anyway and, being British, maybe write a stern letter of complaint"
