Six teens held in Udon road-rage killing

Six teenagers accused of killing a 20-year-old man and injuring four others in a road-rage attack were arrested in this northeastern province on Friday.

The suspects, all aged 15-17, were among some 10 people wanted by police for their roles in the April 19 incident on Udon-Kudchap Road in tambon Ban Liam of Muang district, said Udon Thani police chief Phumvit Vetkama.

The attack left one dead and three men and a woman injured. They were travelling on two motorcycles when they were attacked by the gang, said Pol Col Phumvit.

Video footage from the area and witness accounts led police to the six suspects. A 17-year-old is alleged to be the gang's leader, Thai media reported.

The teenagers apparently had been drinking alcohol before they began driving around on their motorbikes. The group rode past them and a stick protruding from one of the victims' bikes struck one of the other bikes. That sparked the deadly fight, police said.

Police are still tracking down the other assailants.
