SiSaKet border crossing reopened

Si Sa Ket border crossing reopened


The Chong Sa-ngam border checkpoint in Phu Sing district of Si Sa Ket province was re-opened on Wednesday, 13 days after after being closed because of fighting on the border between Thai and Cambodian forces.

Si Sa Ket governor Somsak Suwansucharit said today he ordered the reopening of Chong Sa-ngam border crossing  at 1.30pm. It was closed on April 22.

However, all was still quiet at the crossing today. It was expected border trade would fully resume on Sunday, May 8, the governor said.

Earlier today, the Chong Jom border checkpoint in Kap Choeng district of Surin was reopened at 10am after a ceasefire agreement was reached between Lt-Gen Tawatchai Samutsakhon, the 2nd Army chief, and Lt-Gen Chea Mon, commander of Cambodia's 4th Army Region.
