Two robbers made off with about 420,000 baht after robbing the Rangsima branch of Bangkok Bank inside Tesco Lotus department store on Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses told police that the robbery occurred at about 1.30pm after two men arrived in front of the store on a motorcle. One of them, armed with a gun and wearing a crash helmet, stormed into the bank, held a security guard at gunpoint, and told the bank's customers to crouch.

The man then jumped over the counter, searched the drawers of the bank's tellers and grabbed 384,000 baht cash and some European Union currency worth altogether about 420,000 baht, shoving it into a bag before running out of the bank.

He hopped on to the waiting motorcycle, which quickly sped away with the money.

The entire robbery last about five minutes.

Police are hunting for the robbers.
