Chi River floods Maha Sarakham

The Chi River has overflowed its banks in the northeastern province of Maha Sarakham and over 500 families have been evacuated.

People in Moo 8, Moo 16 and Moo 18 villages of tambon Kosum Phisai locality, in Kosum Phisai district, of Maha Sarakham province had hurriedly moved their belongings to high ground, left their houses and moved to the entrance of their villages as the Chi River rose rapidly and completely flooded their communities. Over 1,000 people were in trouble there, reports said.

The floods now cover Kosum Phisai district, affecting 116 villages and over 21,000 people.  About 140 square kilometers of farmland and 570 fish ponds have been damaged, and the problems are getting worse, the reports said.

And here in good old Joho. The weather is very nice and not a spot of rain all day, despite what is falling all around us.

I think Korat has been very lucky this year and has escaped by the skin of its teeth. Mind you.... It's not over yet.

The weather forecast is predicting a lot to come, but that is seldom correct.
