Over the years I have lived in places where light pollution has been low enough to be able to see the milk in the Milky Way.  Around Korat the humidity is high and light pollution is pretty bad. We generally sleep with the curtains open but last night my wife woke up staring at two bright lights in the sky. We went to the window and we could also see stars.  Out of the East facing window we could see a very bright light which could only be the planet Venus. I think one of the two other bright lights must have been Mars but not sure about the other one. I am very happy living in Thailand but sometimes I do think it would be nice to lie on my back in a nice dark field and view the enormity of the Universe above me.
If the old only could, if the young only knew.
