The Skull Cracker
« on: May 06, 2014, 08:49:28 PM »
Someone commented recently - the UK has changed.
My PC aware and H & S besotted bureaucratic mad homeland has some explaining to do ..........
Michael Wheatley, known as the skull cracker, currently serving 13 life sentences was residing at an Open Prison on the Isle of Sheppey.
Last time he was out on parole in 2001/2, he committed 13 bank robberies.
With a record including much serious violence, he was allowed out on UNACCOMPANIED day release recently, but he failed to return.
Some Prison Jobsworths seem to be seeking to excuse this situation .............    () ()
Apparently 3-4 % of Open prisoners abscond each year.
Really an 8 year old Child could think these things through better.

He struck again today:-

An on-the-run violent armed robber nicknamed the ‘Skull Cracker’ has allegedly struck again - this time at a building society 80 miles away from the jail where he was being held.
Michael Wheatley was released on a temporary licence from HMP Standford Hill open prison on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, on Saturday - but absconded and is thought to have boarded a train to London.
The 55-year-old was spotted on Monday in Twickenham, south-west London - and today allegedly robbed the Chelsea Building Society in nearby Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey.
Local shop owners told the Surrey Herald that two women ran into a nearby Costcutter store to call the police following the incident at 10.20am - and officers at the scene said the man 'made off with an unknown quantity of money'.
And a worker from a local dry cleaner's said he was told by police that a white man wearing black glasses and a hat had robbed the bank. Staff at the branch were said to be 'shaken and upset'.
Ibby Sumer, manager of the nearby Golden Grill restaurant said: ‘We've just heard from customers that it's this guy from Twickenham. The Skull Cracker, that's the name they said.

Apparently inside Court today, Mr Cracker was kept in handcuffs - despite the presence of lots of Police !!
Our PC aware, H & S besotted, bureaucratic and acknowledgements to TT, 'UMAN RIGHTS BEACON OF', homeland, put him in an open prison, after 3 previous escapes from closed prisons, and then let him out for the weekend - (a violent Bank Robber !!!!!!!!!!!!)
I revise my previous comment and would say that a FIVE year old ( not 8 ), could think these matters through - much much better than this !
Jobsworths rule ok !
It's just batty - the UK and me now !

He certainly was roger.

Unshaven and with grey cropped hair, Wheatley, dressed in a grey T-shirt, was flanked by four police officers in stab vests and was handcuffed throughout the hearing.  standard.co.uk

Does anyone know the reasons why he was kept in an open prison and allowed time out or are we just content to condemn the authorities and the rest of Britain?

Hi Saf. The full crime CV of Skull Cracker was given in detail in the Press - the only conclusion to be drawn, is that, under no circumstances should he have been in an 'Open' Prison at any time. When previously on Parole, he apparently carried out 13 yes 13 bank robberies, no doubt cracking some skulls along the way !
Apparently hundreds of Murderers and others serving life sentences enjoy the privileges of Open Prisons too.
I'm content to condemn the Authorities yes.

Dangerous armed robber on the run from open prison.

He also went missing from HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire in April 2012 and was not found until almost three months later and they put him back in an open prison

Dangerous armed robber on run from prison in latest jailbreak

David Blood absconded from Ford Open Prison where at least two others have gone missing in the last two months

An armed robber serving life today went on the run from open prison for the second time – as the Home Office added one more to its list of missing convicts.

David Blood, who police said may pose a threat to the public, absconded from Ford Prison in West Sussex, between 8.30am and 1pm.

He also went missing from HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire in April 2012 and was not found until almost three months later.

The 48-year-old was jailed for life at Stafford Crown Court in 2003 for robbing a post office in Sutton Coldfield, west Midlands.

In the most recent high-profile walkout case violent armed robber Michael Wheatley - known as Skullcracker - carried out a raid on a building society when he disappeared after being let out of the Standford Hill prison in Kent. He was recaptured and jailed for life last month.

Simon Rhodes-Butler, 37, who was jailed for seven years after he and an accomplice attacked a garage owner and stole his Rolex watch, absconded from Ford Open Prison on May 22.

Violent robber Kevin Brown, 54, serving life, disappeared from Ford in April.

Last month, machete-wielding thug, Lewis Powter, 30, and Paul Oddysses, 49, who was serving a life sentence for attempted robbery escaped from Hollesley Bay open prison in Suffolk. Powter has since given himself up.

Another inmate, Wayne McLeod, 36, escaped from Springhill open prison in Buckinghamshire last month.

Yesterday's absconder Blood is described as 6ft 1in tall, of small build with brown eyes and cropped black hair. He is known to have links to Staffordshire and Warwickshire.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said last night: "The Justice Secretary has been clear that keeping the public safe is our priority and has already ordered major changes to tighten up temporary release processes and open prison eligibility.

"Absconds have reached record lows under this Government - down 80% over the last 10 years - but each and every incident is taken seriously, with the police contacted as a matter of urgency.

"Open prisons and temporary licence are an important tool in rehabilitating long term offenders but not at the expense of public safety."

Labour have criticised the Government for cuts in prisons.
