Jeremy Clarkson, Top Gear host, suspended by BBC after 'fracas'

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended by the BBC after what it called a "fracas" with a producer.

Sources said he was accused of hitting the producer in an incident last week, and the remaining three episodes of the current series might not be broadcast.

The BBC confirmed one episode - due for broadcast on Sunday - would not be shown, but gave few further details.

Jeremy Clarkson petition: Top Gear host jokes about BBC 'punch' as 270,000 back calls for his return

An online petition calling for Jeremy Clarkson to be reinstated as Top Gear host has surged past 270,000 signatures.

Fans of the BBC show flooded the site after the 54-year-old was suspended following a "fracas" during an argument about food.

The alleged bust-up, between Clarkson and a producer named in reports as Oisin Tymon, 36, is said to have taken place after filming in Newcastle last week.

Must of been the red wine

According to a witness, the star, who had been drinking rosé wine, barked: “So there’s no food” then launched into a foul-mouthed tirade.

Thaiga, thanks for pointing out the bit about rosé.  Only the members of the lower social orders drink rosé. True gentlemen drink red wine.

What is he like

Clarkson was staying at the Simonstone Hall Hotel near Hawes, North Yorkshire, and came into the bar at around 9.30pm after a day of filming last Wednesday.

According to an interview with Sky News, Bob Ward, 60, from Leeds, who was also staying there with wife Denise, brother Alan and his wife Sue, asked for a selfie with the millionaire presenter.

Mr Ward said the star replied: "No, not with the day I have had."

Clarkson himself has joked about his position, telling reporters he was "just off to the job centre" and later changing his Twitter profile to read: "I am probably a presenter on the BBC2 motoring show, Top Gear."

JC is an arrogant and boorish individual but the 'quoted' comments headlined in a newspaper, likening his case to Jimmy Saville, are totally disgraceful and libelous - I sniff a giant libel action on the way.
IF the quote did in fact come from someone at the BBC that's quite shameful.

Jeremy Clarkson to be sacked by the BBC

Jeremy Clarkson is to be sacked as Top Gear presenter after a BBC investigation found he did assault a producer in a row over steak and chips

Jeremy Clarkson is to be sacked as Top Gear presenter after a BBC investigation concluded he did attack a producer on the programme.

Lord Hall, the Director General of the BBC, is expected to announce his decision on Wednesday after considering the findings of an internal investigation.

Clarkson, 54, will be thanked for his work on the hugely popular motoring show, but will be told such behaviour cannot be tolerated at the Corporation.

According to well-placed sources, senior executives at the Corporation have been wooing Radio 2 Breakfast Show host and self- confessed ‘petrol-head’, Chris Evans in the hope he will agree to take over.

Evans said earlier in the week he would be "disappointed" with anything fewer than five million viewers for the show's first episode.

Oh! dear the ginger whinger fell short of the five million viewers for the show's first episode, he pulled in 4.4 million viewers when it returned to our screens on Sunday night, Thats a sad looking pic  :-[

from the huffingtonpost.co.uk
Over the course of the episode, viewing figures rose to a peak of 4.7 million, but this still falls short of Chris’s expected benchmark.

It also lags behind the 5.3 million viewers being brought in by Jeremy Clarkson during his last series of ‘Top Gear’ (before he was ultimately sacked for lamping a producer in the face in March last year, while filming on location).

Guess if thats the best we can expect Chris Baby then you need to sneak of into the shadows Because its a hard act to follow which is why you shouldnt have bothered you should have made a whole new ball game. The BBC here have hired agency actors to fill in for the three stooges and expected as all recruitors do, that the agency actors make it work and then if it does the BBC take the glory and if it doesnt then blame the agency staff. It was terrible and Yes I did watch it for 25minutes and it was like watching pantomine with Chris shouting almost like he was shouting at kids, whats behind me!!!!!

Ros Ricci
I couldn't agree more. A disgraceful waste of licence payers money.

Ros Ricci
They need a man presenting a show like this. Putting up a dork like Chris Evans is akin to promoting my aunt Agatha. Incidentally the viewing figure given above takes no account of the fact that 21% of viewers changed channel before the program ended.

Lots lots more

Jeremy Clarkson 'missed several calls' for plane he claims he was prevented from boarding over 'Falklands row'

Clarkson accused the airline employee, whom he reportedly referred as an "ignorant little worm", of "telling colleagues the three men were too drunk to fly, which prevented them boarding".

“He’s a stupid, bitter and twisted little man,” Clarkson told the Sun, adding that he "made us miss our plane and he will pay for it. The police said it was a hate crime and he would be arrested. Yes, even the Germans were 100 per cent on our side — for once.”

The Grand Tour: The Official Trailer

Grand Tour 'most illegally downloaded TV programme in history'

Unprecedented numbers downloading Jeremy Clarkson’s new show illegally rather than signing up for Amazon Prime

Jeremy Clarkson’s new motoring show has become the most illegally downloaded television programme in history, figures suggest.

Amazon paid a reported $160m (£130m) for three series of The Grand Tour, which stars former Top Gear presenters Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, after Clarkson was sacked by the BBC in March 2015.

But figures from Muso, data analysts of the piracy market, suggest unprecedented numbers of people are avoiding paying £79 a year to sign up for Amazon’s online streaming service, Amazon Prime, and instead downloading the show illegally.

The data, shared with the Mail on Sunday, suggests the first episode was downloaded illegally 7.9m times, the second 6.4m times and the third 4.6m times. British viewers made up the largest percentage (13.7%) of the total number of illegal downloads.

The new show from the former Top Gear trio debuted on 18 November, and Amazon, which has extended its streaming service to 200 countries, has said only that “millions” of people streamed the first episode. Even the programme’s stars say they are not privy to the official viewing figures.

Muso estimated that Amazon could have lost up to £3.2m in revenue in Britain alone on episode one because of illegal downloads. Chris Elkins, the chief commercial officer at the company, said: “It is the most illegally downloaded programme ever. It is off the scale in terms of volume.”

It has overtaken every big show, including Game Of Thrones, for the totals across different platforms. We monitor thousands of campaigns and this one really stands out.”

A spokesperson for Amazon said: “The Grand Tour has become the biggest show premiere ever on Amazon Prime Video, breaking records around the world.”

Consumer Intelligence Research Partners estimated there were 63 million Amazon Prime members this July, up 19 million in a year, whereas other analysts estimate that just 2 million are in the UK. Amazon had hoped that the show would attract more subscribers to the service.

In March 2015, Clarkson was sacked by the BBC for an “unprovoked physical and verbal attack” on a Top Gear producer, after a string of scandals involving racist and sexist comments made by the presenter.

A remake of Top Gear without Clarkson, Hammond or May, aired on the BBC this year and saw audiences plummet. The show’s new presenter, Chris Evans, announced he was leaving hours after the final episode was broadcast in July. “Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough,” he said.
