Where to get some diazepam in Korat?
« on: August 29, 2016, 10:28:58 AM »
Dear All,
I hope this finds you well, I've been having problems with my back on and off
and went 3 doctors, all of which have given me the same advice and medication,
Myonal, I have taken this and it has zero effect, can anyone point me into
a direction to at least get some decent medication? Your response is greatly appreciated.

Diazepam, Temazepam and the like, used to be available over the counter in drugstores around Korat until about 12 years ago. During Thaksin's "War against Drugs" its classification was changed. Since then it has been available on prescription only. So you need to see a physician to have it prescribed.

Nevertheless Diazepam is a tranquilizer, not a painkiller or muscle relaxant.

When I had severe problems with back pain back in Germany I got to a good physician, who explained to me that all this chemistry won't cure my problem, just suppress symptoms more or less, that only learning about doing the right gynmnastics would do. So he gave me a prescription for 10 sessions with a physiotherapist, who showed me what exercises to do. Since then I do approriate exercises when pain sets in. No need for chemistry anymore!

I'm surprised that you ask for drugs instead of simply enjoying some Thai Massage. ;)

You could also check with Siam Pharmacy.
Address:
163 Pho Klang Rd, Nai Mueang, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Nakhon Ratchasima 30000
Ph No: 044 267 316

Get the little lady to phone first, then if it is only prescription only get your Dr to write one up for diazepam and go to Siam Pharmacy.
I have found if you phone in your order ahead of time you can pick it up the next day.

Hey Johnny F, thanks for the heads up, I would have get a message but I have sciatic nerves and my Doctor is now giving me Myonal,
but I have to disagree with you on one thing, Diazepam is a Muscle Relaxer according to the FDA and the whole medical community.

I never said, Diazepam were not a "Muscle Relaxer according to the FDA". But the FDA (a US institution, I believe) could not keep the Thai government from classifying Diazepam a habit-forming and therefore illegal drug in Thailand, because of its prevalent abuse as tranquilizer over here. Better buy and use in the US then. Or find a Thai physician risking his license by prescribing it to you as muscle-relaxant.

For example Cannabis is legal or at least decriminalized in good parts of the US now. But in Thailand it is still totally illegal, not even allowed for medicinal purposes in cases like terminal cancer. You would have to pay a lot to the cops or go into the slammer for quite some time, if caught with it. Same with Diazepam, that was not prescribed. This is Thailand!

You can get diazepam and loprazolam at a small pharmacy across the street from the Dusit Princess hotel.. See the bald pharmacist guy. He will only give you 10. Years ago I had a teacher friend and he used to go this place all the time.

Personally, I don't like tranquilizers. When I get back pain, I take ibuprofen or Norgesic.
